I came up with a new weapon idea. It would be like a striker lock on missle but it would basically be about 6-8 missles in a capsule. Then when it gets a certain distance the missle capsule opens and releases the missles and they track down the target. I think it would be a great common pool weapon. Would have to be low damage because of its tracking abilitys.

ooo I see hwat you mean basicaly you mean its a missle launcher similar to the striker but it fires one main missle then after lets say 5 seconds of traking its target it splits into smaller missles? if thats it then it sounds ok

I like the idea of a man-portable AA/AV weapon in common pool. Kinda like striker, but geared towars keeping air off a grunts back when used in groups.

depends on how long it takes for it to lock on, say 2-3 seconds then it should be almost a one hit kill or so, it would take some skill if it took that long.

Well i dont think it would be a timed thing until the missle breaks apart. It would have to be distance from the target. This is a good weapon cause it would make it harder to dodge. Yes otherick thats what i mean.

I like this idea alot. I have recently been trying to think of new weapons that could be added that weren't lasers in some shape or form. Good effort towards the devs for trying with the cc weapons but common, if i want lasers i'd join vs. I want more rockets and bullets.

That'd be a really nice wep to carry around with a sniper rifle, make it easy to get rid of the rocket spammers.

Sounds like something out of anime. Also it would really suck to have a bunch of people using these weapons, because it would kill framerate.

ok so we should pretty make the striker more useless?

ok i got an idea lets have a common pool rocket laucher that you can fly and when you detnonate it , it splits into like 5 little rockes and kills everyhting

well to make it so the striker doesnt stop getting used we need to make it weak missles slow lock on time but the projectils are goin to need to move like the wind. I love this idea so yeah.

Not really that great of an idea. In terms of AA, the Striker is already too difficult to shake without burners (the armor on aircraft isn't that great, as it should be) and the other Empires already have sick anti-air MAXes (Starfire = BEP generating machine). Pilots already have enough trying to kill them.

In terms of AV, most of the AV weapons are better at hitting things (in comparison to Lock-on based things). Can't think of too many people who would trade a Phoenix or a Lancer for it....and only a small margin of Striker users would take it...unless the damage output is insane, but then you're effectively removing vehicles from the game and before any one starts cheering, that means some long long walks to get to a fight.

From a technology standpoint, having five missiles to dodge...what does that really get us? Means five more objects that have to be drawn and tracked and accounted for. Get a full squad using it, say there's 2 cans each in the air, and we've added a whole 100 objects (5 missiles x 2 cans x 10 soldiers) that have to be sent out to everyone. That's BAD...because imagine a platoon using them...now imagine a platoon on each side. 600 objects plus everything else. For what? This doesn't seem to be that big of an improvement over the weapons we already have.

It's not that I don't want a new AV weapon, but this just doesn't do it for me. Adds a lot of technical issues, doesn't really add any gameplay changes, no new tactics for the target (same things that work against a Striker work against this lock-on based weapon), and just doesn't make me go "HEY! that's cool!". Between Strikers, Sparrows and Starfires, Air has enough problems staying alive. If you're a sniper, squad up with a guy and bring out a skyguard...that's much more effective (unless you can get a Startfire MAX, in which case, go with them). I know, I know...this game isn't about squad based tacti...oh wait, it is!

I agree, some sort of non-laser weapon would be nice...but I don't think this is it.

A couple more missles out there isn't going to do that much, do reaver rockets make you lag, no they don't, the explosions do , because thats particle effects

Problem is that it's not just a couple of missiles, it can quite easily be hundreds. Hundreds of *tracking* missiles. That's the problem. Will it lag everyone? Maybe, maybe not. But the two parties involved could very easily see a delay. Everyone else needs to know where the 100+ objects are at any time, and tracking rounds require a bit more to keep track of. The majority of tracking weapons are AA, so the computer doesn't really need to care about them (if it's 200m in the air, the engine knows not to really care about it). This is AV, so it can lock onto tanks. Add in the animation of the canister opening, or the particle effect of the can splitting...plus the mini-map would have to display all five of the missiles (again, we're talking hundreds of munitions moving here...big battles).

Again, what does this weapon provide us that we don't already have? Another broken lock-on weapon? Something to harass Aircraft (the only thing Lock-on remotely works on), of which there are already 8 weapons systems across the empires that do so (not even counting other aircraft)? It just doesn't seem to be adding any sort of new dynamic to the equation...because it if DOESN'T have these delay updates, then all missiles hit or miss...and at that point why do the separate missiles? If you take away the separate missiles, all you have is a Striker. Maybe that's the reason it doesn't move me, the main idea here is really just a new type of Striker ammo. If you don't make it clearly better than the AV for something though, nobody will use it, making it a waste of developer time and energy.

I also just thought of something. It could be an anti max cert. I always thought having an weapon just for maxes would be cool. Maybe it would only lock onto maxes.

AND AND AND I just thought of a different new weapon too. I dont want to start a whole new thread for it so. But what about a weapon that you can shoot a camera onto a soldier or vehicle. And then you can go into camera mode and basically look inside the enemy base when they go to rearm.

We have an Anti-MAX weapon, it is known as the Decimator.

The camera idea is interesting, but again...what does it give us? Not like there can be booby traps (like Sentry guns or deployable barricades) or any difference in the base layout (A bio lab is a bio lab is a bio lab). Just shows you how many guys are in the base, which chances are you already know (or have a ball park idea of).

If they added in the stuff that would make a camera like that useful, that'd be cool.

well things like if they turn on darklight you can see darklight to and see cloakers on their own team. And put it on someone attacking and when they go back to resupply at their ams you find out exactly where it is. It could be a SA weapon. Considering it is a Special kind of assualt.

Maybe as an add-on to SA, but the only use for it would be AMS hunting, which lowers the usefulness of infiltrators...who are already near useless thanks to the Devs extended neglict.

Again, if they added a few other things that would make the inside different, that'd be a very useful addition.

YEAH but look at it this way. Being able to see where maxes are and how many of them there are just by shooting a camera. How cool would that be. You would know how many decis you need and stuff like that.
