I am going up to my Grandma and Grandpas ranch for springbreak, so I won't be posting here till sometime after the 20th.
Anywho, the ranch is fun, but there isn't much to do once the sun goes down, so I am looking for a good board game to bring up their. Anybody have any suggestions?

Everybody else in my family thinks risk takes too long, so thats out.
Needs to be playable by up to 4 people.
Oh, and we already got monopoly, but we played the heck out of that last time we went up there...

D&D. Not exactly a board game, but can get pretty fun if you know what you are doing.

Axis and Allies - one of the best board games ever. The original is only medium difficulty for just picking it up out of the box, but the strategy involved and the intuition is just mind bending.
Woo, I win at board games.

Axis and Allies: If you want to kill a weekend, that's the game to get. It is so fun, yet I haven't played it since I brought it to work with me last year. Not a lot of strategic gamers on this shift, so I ended up owning them. Started off with England, built up my Navy, sent wolfpacks down around the med. Started to build up my air force shortly after gaining the sea. Then began a massive air campaign against Germany. Having defeated Germany, I took over Russia smoothly, then attacked Japan. America and I were having fun sandwiching Japan. Then America and I duked it out. That took forever. He had his air force and Army, but couldn't move any of his pieces. I had my Navy and some army support, but could never move them into a good position to take America, until we decided to move all our pieces into the Western US and just sat and rolled until I was victorious.

If you like Monopoly, try Triopoly. It's essentially three Monopoly boards of three sizes stacked up on top of each other, in the shape of a pyramid. Of course, it takes forever to play, but small price to pay...

Politika (Red Storm Entertainment (yes, THAT Red Storm Entertainment (http://www.redstorm.com/games/politika/boardgame.html))) or Illuminati (Steve Jackson Games (http://www.sjgames.com/illuminati/)) are good choices, but I only own the former.
Board games suck and you need two people to play them with. If you want something to do alone or just something fun bring CDs or something and if you like to read then bring a book too.

I love Axis and Allies. Me and mist used to have games that lasted like 10 days. I hated that game so much sometimes. Although I made Africa it's own country and won once.

sexy game... i pwn...
hmmm... i would have to say bring the most classic re-creation of monopoly ever: ghettopoly (sp?)
EDIT: Risk is ok too if your into really long games, un fortunately whenever we play in my house it gets really competitive, my Mom has to act as a mediator and when we dont play she keeps watch over the board... i think ym sister tries to pay her off though

Good idea but it can take awhile to pick up, epseically if you've never done pen and paper before. That and trying to get people to play it can be a lot like trying to convince a horse to walk off a cliff.
