Kamakazie - a soldier (probably a MAX) rushers into a camp or fortress blazing his guns everywhich way killing as many as possible and making his/her enemies empty their clips. once kamakazie soldier is dead and the enemies reloading, the rest of the squad rushes in chucking plasma grenades and firing off grenade launchers to the unsuspecting enemies.

Body Guards - the commander is the most valuable player/role on the field, without the commander the soldiers are mindless drones (not all, of course) Snipers will be a big BIG problem. If a sniper has advanced targeting and knows the commander of a squad's name. Well then, he just needs to find a cozy place to hide and wait till he can get a clear shot. IN COME THE BODY GUARDS. the Role of body guards is of course obvious, stand infront of the commander and be the first out of a transport with the commander being the last one out. Once we get our 4 star Commanders known throughout the server, who will stand up and be willing to take a shot front a sniper rifle, or rocket launcher, or plasma grenade?

Human Shields - obviously, they will take on the same role as a body guard, but even more. a Rocket is Fired at a tank, a Human shield jumps into the way and takes the hit, the tank remains in perfect condition :) Or, same situation, instead its a plasma grenade and if the tank gets hit, it will slowly lose health, human shields stands right over the grenade and takes all of it, slowly dying a terrible and agnozing death.

Just thought i would put these topics out there. Will you be one of these 3 roles? or do you think these are good roles to use in combat? Anyone have any ideas in perfecting the roles? Any Ideas on something related? Just basically put down your thoughts on what you read. :D

Not sure about the others, but as for human shields, see this thread: http://planetside-universe.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1732

Pretty good ideas, I just don't think many will be willing to sit there, next to a commander, doing nothing but eating bullets. I think that problem could easily be solved, if the commander wears reinforced armour, and has Adv hacking.

Kamakazie will be a big tactic (instinct) of alot of n00bs, but I think if done correcty, and in the right stages, could be effective at using up enemies ammo. Better for defense though, as enemies would just simply run back to a terminal and get resupply. Could, in theort work just to get them to use up their ammo, and attack while they are reloading. The only problem is, not every gun has the same size clip.

I think you'll find the human shield thing work more by accident, than by tactic. In any smart outfit, no tank will ever go out without infantry to protect it. They'll probably end up eating rockets accidentally:D

Good thoughts though. Shows people are thinkin:)

To me commander = sqaud leader and up.

Not likely.

While I would be willing to take a bullet for a commander, I don't think many (including me) would be willing to just standing around waiting for the chance. Now, if the commander in question was in imminent danger, he could count on me for defense. But I'm just standing there like a moron waiting for a bolt to drive through my skull.

Also, commanders don't necisaraly have to be in the battle-zone, or on the ground. The commander could just drive around in a Vangaurd/Sunderer while giveing commands. Heck, you'll need a driver for that APC anyways.

He shouldn't drive, drivers need to be able to react at a moments notice to dodge an RPG or some such, he should be gunning. You only need to use your mouse to gun, so he can still type and the like.

:stupid:
or, if your have a transport, put him in a MAX in the Back of the transport, when the transport is ready to blow, he can get out, and is still a tough cookie. That's what I'd do.

I think the kamikaze might be more effective if the rest of the squad attacks with him rather than waiting for him to soften the enemy position. Of course, then it's not really a suicide run.

I agree that it is a good idea to park your overall commander in a nearby vehicle, or maybe even back at the AMS if the command features make remote leadership feasible.

I plan to park my commander next to the AMS, in a MAX. Best of both worlds.

And I plan on using voice comm for most in-squad communication... no need for my physical presence at all. Sit-reps can come through via voice from those still in combat.

I don't see a commander's death as that big a deal... I'd be suprised to find that you can't chat while you're dead, and there's no way to shut down a 3rd party voice program.

And a decent infantry squad will always have a medic handy too.

Death = no_big_deal;

Human shield and body gaurd. Good ideas, but it might be a tad difficult to jump in front of a rocket (tho, it depends how fast they are), and I believe grenades can be set to explode on impact. Protecting a comander tho, I like the body gaurd thing.
