i haven't played planetside since late sept. i was wondering if it has got any better, such as bugs, weapons, and lack of players. i heard about the new underground thing right before i left, was just wondering if its worth it. even though most of my friends are probably gone or passed on to other games i would still like some action.

thankz for any info

you should come back. the game is improving slowly now but will begin to rapidly improve over the next month or so.

the Core Combat schpiel is apparently not all it's cracked up to be, but that's just the oppinion of many of the players i've spoken to, and myself. but other than that the game is really looking great right now and it's only getting better... *ahem* [musical interlude] "The future's so bright, i gotta wear shades."

okay, that's my sunshine statement for the day.

Don't get Core Combat it is a waste of money. heres one of my previous posts

I think if SOE does make another Expansion they should put it out for free for a week and if you like it, Then buy it. It would have saved them after the Fiasco they had with CC. Which I still regret buying to this day. Oh yay I go down to a cavern once every 2 weeks and have weapons I don't use. and vehicles that cause grief worse then the pounder or are just useless.

Bugs are not the ugly monster they once were (with a few exceptions). If you haven't played since late september, you may want to work your way back in slowly...PS is a VERY different game from when you left.

The battles are big since the server merge, the new gameplay they literally just put in has shaken things up tremendously.

The weapons are probably the closest to balanced that they've been in a long, long time. Dev response has been much improved and overall the game is starting to move forward nicely (a few bumps here and there).

Core Combat is really up in the air still. Most people feel it isn't worth it, but it's not bad. It's not the "Urban Combat" they made it out to be, but it's not bad. People I think were so upset about the bugs introduced with it and the fact that it was different from what they were expecting that they hated it immediately. I was on the CC beta test, and when you get a whole bunch of people down there, it's easily as fun as the surface, an infantryman's dream...but so many people listen to those who didn't like it and don't get it so there's hardly anybody down there. :(

they need to make a continent that's primarily bombed out buildings that used to be a big ass base.. that'd make for some real urban combat. but then, the lag would probably be horrendous.

I'm still working on a Space Combat sheet. :) Got sidetracked by post-BR20 though. Yes, PS is still worth coming back to...make up your own mind about CC though.

what exactly is meant by space combat?

like, naval ships in space with fighters and what not, and boardings and shit? or just space station battles and what not? this concept is a bit overwhelmong to me.

It means orbital bases (which are referenced in the PS story) and capital ships and satelitte stations and fighters and gunships and assault boats and boarding actions and all sorts of yummy goodness. :D I'll work a bit more on that doc tomorrow and re-post the somewhat refined form...you can find the rough draft if you look for my posts in "now what about space combat"

why thank you for your response, Krins. you're like a fucking radio shack, i'm serious. ;)

[edit] not in the sense that you peddle cellular phones, or set up service plans, or sell radios and electronics or anything, but.. i've got questions, you've got answers, y'know, all that stuff.. right.. i'll shut up now. :(

Eh, I like coming up with ideas. For those who are interested in reading my ideas on space combat but are too lazy to hit search and sift through stuff...it's on the third page of the post "Now what about Space Combat" which is currently on the third page of the forum. Feedback always welcome...just no flames please. :) If you don't like something, please explain why and provide an alternative...that's all I ask.

heh i am glad to here they improved the game. Especially the weapons, cause my god they were so unbalanced. HEH i remember when they buffed the lasher, i have never heard so many people complain in my life. needless to say me and a couple other oufits joined together for about 3-4 days and just wiped the floor with terran blood.....the good ole' days. some of my old experiences really make me want to come back. Oh another question have the nerfed the mag-mower in anyway? its my weapon of choice.

Don't expect to be able to go mowing like in the good ole days. Hitting someone will slow you down and mines do a huge amount of damage to vehicles. One mine alone will kill a MAX. The game is completely different from what you remember.

Personally, I think the game is better and the weapons are getting balanced. There are still some things to iron out, but they aren't game killers and I still have lots of fun playing. You should deffinantly come back and check out the new content.

PS is definately a little more carebear than it used to be, but it is still a good game...

Don't bash CC guys.

Tired of your slow frames? Tired of the zerg? Tired of being killed by a guy that is warping?

Well I have the solution my friend.

Go into the caverns and fight for your empire on a smaller side with only about 5-10 friendlies and just that many enemies. Cap the cavern and just defend it so your continents get the benefits from the mods which eventually helps your comrads up on the surface.

dont come back if your comp isn't fully up to date and you have 1024 or higher RAM.

Not true, it's manageable with 512, you just can't have all your settings up. And it's better if you have 512 to stick to less CPU intensive roles, i.e. engineer, cloaker, sniper, stuff that doesn't have alot of high detail close up models in your face at once.

512 sucks for me. main reason why im quitting. i cant even move during big fights, and ill be a monkey's uncle's brother's father if im going to spend another 120 bucks on RAM just so i can play this game.
