My brother has a band, named Ruby, that is gaining quite a bit of popularity in our local area (Houston). Finnaly, I convinced him to get a website and I want you guys opinions. Bear in mind that I did do the actual web-code for the site, but helped my brother create the design. Also keep in mind, it is not completly finnished, but still here you go:

Hmm, is it going to be like 1024's bands site....with the booknote paper....?

Hmm, don't think I have seen 1024's site, any links?

By the by, the theme is a journal or something that has obviously seen better days. Obviously it still needs some polishing, but its all we got so far.

rubyenter.jpg is way too compressed.
throw every page's contents into some tables so they center in the screen, or at least have the 'main' image and 'enter' images in the same places.
make all successive pages the same size. (for example, this one (http://www.rubyinterweb.com/Lyrics/lyrics/PromiseOfA/index.htm) can be the same as the rest, if you use less compression)
get your brother a bigger firearm (one word, no hyphen).
get rid of the "under construction" thing; all websites are always under construction.
make the "this site done by ..." less important (i like a small text link at the bottom, like the one at the bottom of your screen right now)
i'd replace the main propaganda page (http://www.rubyinterweb.com/Propaganda/index.htm) with the intro until one or two submissions have been processed and put up. also, john moon's email address (http://www.rubyinterweb.com/PropIntro/index.htm) is missing.
take contact and booking info and make it match everything else. i'd bust out photoshop and throw them right onto the "the band" page (http://www.rubyinterweb.com/TheBand/index.htm), one on either side of the tear
i really like the design; all of it. look and idea are done very well. navigation is simple, easy, intuitive (except for lack of back in lyrics... but that's fine, all browsers have back - i say leave it, or go for target=blank).

summary:
cool site. like you said, just needs a little polishing. i like it a lot.

You could probably get away with greyscale .gif's if bandwidth is an issue. Those images have an excess of compression artifacts. I like the style, good concept.

nice i think it should have:
-back buttons?
-smaller image here http://www.rubyinterweb.com/Music/RubyMusic.jpg should be 592x792 pixels is 808 x 1080 pixels
- promotion page maybe make a big notebook back to pretend to have the pictures contained within. So as to not loose the style.

Good job otherwise

Wow, that is oddly similar. I guess me and 1024 think alike or something... spooky...

Thanks for the suggestions, the made by tag is something that the designer wants to use, but I could probably talk him into a small tag line at the bottom of each page.

Back buttons are an excellent idea, and yeah, the images do need the compression screwed around with.

The under construction thing is a big turn off for me too, wasn't around when they slapped that thing on.

Thanks for all the opinions!
