Vanguard Vs. Prowler

Depends, are they both fully manned? If so, I'd put my money on the Prowlers. 100 12mm guns should make short work of any [/i]vehicle[/i]. The Prowler has a shorter TTK vs a Vanguard too, so again, I'd say the Prowlers.

We're talking hypothetically, if all the crews had the exact same skill level.

A more accurate comparison would be 99 vanguards and 66 prowlers, since that would equate to the same amount of gunners. In that situation, the Vanguards, hand down.

Yeah, if you made it 99 and 66 it would easily be the vans, but that doesn't make any sense. Yeah, you have more gunners, but its 99 cannons vs. 66 cannons/66 mg's. The cannons would easily take out the prowlers much faster.

Edit: Not to mention, for every prowler you kill, you kill 2 gunners, for ever vangaurd, you only lose one.

Yes but I'm saying for the amount of people. It would take 198 Gunners and Drivers to fill up 99 vanguards, and it would take 198 Gunners and Drivers to fill up 66 Prowlers.

I think it would depend on the driver and gunner(s) of the two types of tanks. They are both pretty even.

Vanguards

12mm is crap and the prowler is just too slow. The strongpoints of the Prowler having the 12mm are not present in this scenario. 12mm is only good at killing infantry, scaring off reavers and being able to focus on 2 different targets simultainiously. If it were 100 Magriders vs Prowlers, I would however go with the Prowlers.

Also as Chewy pointed out, you would have 1/3rd more players on the prowler side. It stands to reason that a much larger force should win. Sadly in this scenario I think the much larger force would actually lose

99vs66, vangaurds ofcourse. Really you basicly outnumber them due to firepower You could 2+ vangaurds for every tank (not in the beginning, but after the first few prowlers are gone).

So make it 100vs100 game on flat ground divided by some stupid line. Make them all dumb founded then its a 50 50 chance, give them a prime leader and you got yourself a game.

Give the 66 prowlers a leader and they could win.

I think that is the general idea but given equal crew skills, thats not how it works out. At least in all my time playing since the ballance pass. The armor of the Vanguard more than makes up for any insignificant damage superiority the Prowler is supposed to have

Prowlers would win, they have the easier guns, and since the sides are skills even, the easier guns win.

Anyone who says the 12mm can't make a difference has never had a Mosquito playing tag with your ass...

The speed difference between the Prowler and Vanguard is 4kph...that wont be changing any battles...

The only way the battle would be won by the Vanguards is if everyone of their shots landed, which is harder than you think...

If the Prowlers lost I would be surprised...

You wouldn't need 100 of each though, just 10 would be sufficient...

PS: If the Van's and Prowler's armor were switched, there would be a new king on the battlefield (I like the idea, because Im tired of fighting shitty opponents)...

I wouldnt. One of the things my outfit was known for was armor collums. After a while we finally figured out it was better to take the man out of the useless 12mm and put them into Skyguards and Deliverers. Like I said before the Vanguard armor more than makes up for "easy guns" or any slight DPS advantage. Now of course we are talking a tank duel. I think the prowler excells in certain roles but dueling a Vanguard is most defininately not one of them.

Now of course this is before all the ammo box changes. I havent crewed a Vanguard since then so dont really know if its nerfed or not and never really played the 12mm after the patch either. I know before the patch wasting your 12mm shooting at anything but aircraft was idiotic. Well, I guess you could go after the occasional MAX suit, but you better have ammo left for a reaver

Prowler - has to be very careful to actually score a hit on the Vanguard on level ground...slightly easier if the tanks are on inclines.

Vanguard - has to aim at the middle of the Prowler and even if the Prowler is moving at top speed, the 150mm will probably land smack dab in the middle.

Every armor battle I've seen between any numbers of Vanguards and Prowlers (meaning more than 1v1 or 2v1...like 3 Van v 5 Prowl on up) the Vanguard is the one that ends up driving away (not always in good shape...but a battered victor is better than a loser).

ive seen 50 vans versus about 60 prowlers and the vans won. I was there and gunning for one of the vans they got their ass kicked. It was all organized and stuff. If i remember correctly it was on Searhus.

Edit: sorry i exagerated it was about 35 vans and 45 prowlers.

The Vanguard owns the Prowler. Hands down. It's faster, it has more armor, and has r33t guns (the Prowler might have dual guns, but the 150mm is strong as hell, and the 100mm's don't fire at the same time). The Vanguard has, for the longest time, been the best of the tanks. And the Prowler has, apparently, been the worst. But, if the Prowler has 2 really good gunners, they could beat a Van.

Well if the 100vans and 100 prowlers only shot 1 at a time the prowler would win but if they hit the same targets the van.

It has never made sence to he how prowlers are the slowest tanks and 2nd weakest/strongest armor and the second weakest/strongest guns, while the van has the heaviest armor, heaviest gun and still goes faster than the prowler...

If anything the armors need to be switched, once, if ever, that happens, I will answer your post.

I say prowlers as it has 2 weapons that can work at one time, as vangard needs to change from one to the other.

Considering the stats between the two, i would defiantly say vangaurd. The MG's dont do much against heavy armor (think about flying a mossie and attacking a vangaurd with 12mm, ive done it, takes frikken forever to kill it) Also, i can only think of one way the prowlers would win, if they all had Manitou driving them, and the van's didnt. An ex outfit mate tested everything against the two and the difference wasnt even funny, 1 Vangaurd=more ownage than a pair of mags.

Ever read Ender's Game?

A long time ago like 10 years, I remember loving it though, but hated the sequal book. Refresh my memory what this has to do with this topic though. Also have you read A Planet Called Treason by the same author Orson Card? Excellent read.

yeah the enders game series are sometimes good, sometimes bad, but there are 6 now, and btw, the second isnt that bad compared to many other books. :nod:

I read both Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, and I agree, Shadow was much worse than Game. I think that the basic story of Shadow was that it took one of the other characters, and told the story from his point of view. I don't remember his name though.

If you're talking 100 vs 100, I have a feeling what it would come down to is which side concentrated their fire the most effectively.

Prowler has an extra gunner to make up for its shit armor and wank damage. That makes it equal. But yeah Prowler would win.
