I thought I would get an opinion on what has happened to me during my latest 15 minute session. I started playing Saturday evening after a couple of days off from the game. I started with no grief points, shot down one reaver and got into one large battle inside a tower which we lost. I received 9 grief point during that enemy rush and also shot one plane down. I'm almost a BR16 so I thought I would play a while and try to accumulate some points. After returning to sanctuary, i found I had over 500 grief points. I left the game and immediately returned with the 500 points still present along with the stupid message to be careful in battle. I have played over 2 months without having more than 30 grief points, especially since I hardly was in a battle. My question is what is with this game and how long will it take for this to return to a normal level.

I know i had some wierd Greif things happen to me to put me up to 1k of it (my Miss credited TR os that gave me 500 some, and me ejecting from a dead reaver that hit a gal loaded with people)
Also greif is over all characters in all servers

The longer you go in game without getting any grief points, the faster they go away. I once got 500 grief or so because someone parked in front of the vehicle terminal and I didn't get control of my vehicle fast enough. I plowed right under the guy and the grief just skyrocketed. I continued to played a few hours without hitting anyone and when i logged off I was down to around 150. I usually carry 0-20 points of grief. I'm pretty good about watching where I shoot.

1 point per 10 minutes no exceptions. Lock doesn't happen till 1000 so don't really mind your 500. I don't care about grief, I've come to the conclusion that it happens to the best of us when you have some n00b running in front of you or the ever popular, I've been run over and get 50 grief, I love that one.
And to answer your question 500 grief takes 3.47 days or 83.3 hours.

I know it used to be 1 pont per 10 minutes, but it seems faster than that. I've heard people claim it's now double that, which would be 1 point per 5 minutes. Haven't tested it myself...

I'm pretty sure grief disapates quicker than 1 every 10 minutes.

how long will it take for this to return to a normal level.
Here's a hint- log into Sanctuary. Go climb into a wall turret at a Gun Tower (since they have zero use and are out of the way). Step away from the keyboard (go AFK), go make a sandwich and watch Ed, Edd, and Eddy. When you come back, you should be a lot less on the grief side.

it just goes down over time. i remember building up to 1000 grief only because i was getting sick and tired of me empire always getting in the way of my fire to get the kill. then when i kill them they get pissed at me. so one day i decided not to care and ended up with 1000 grief.
and for the record, that was one of the most fun days i've ever experienced in planetside.

so 1k grief = 1 week till 0?
I'm pretty sure that is it, however I agree I have seen it disapating faster. Maybe they actually reward good behavior now? Possibly by logging off it goes a bit faster but I have reached 1000 a few times and for it all to go away takes about a week, at the least 5 days.

It does disapate faster. The longer you go in game without creating any grief, the faster it will start to go away. The moment you cause any more grief, it will slow down again to a trickle. It's incremental.
Go climb into a wall turret at a Gun Tower (since they have zero use and are out of the way).
Or you could just walk inside a building in a sanctuary.

Or just hang around on the Observation deck of a HART buidling :)

Grief dissipates no faster logged in or out...

Hang out in the HART building and rearrange your locker. That's a good way to kill some time ;). Otherwise you can goof off in the driving or shooting range.

You will lose grief logged out. I sometimes go days between sessions. Each time, 0 grief when I log in. You only need to be logged in if you have weapons lock. That requires ingame time to remove it.

With my trusty Bolt Driver, grief is a thing of the past. The trick is to find yourself a place so secluded that no friendly would even think of running across your sights, i.e. a tree :D .

So many misconceptions. If you're going to state something as a fact you sure as hell better know it's a fact before you say it's one.
Greif dissipates at a rate of one greif point every five minutes. This is a constant. Weather you are logged in, logged out, incurring greif or sitting idle, it is always dissipating at one greif point every five minutes. Incuring greif over multiple instances in a short period of time increases the amount of greif recieved per instance, but greif still goes away at the same rate of one greif point every five minutes.
I already knew this to be a fact however, to thwart any one attempting to say otherwise, I have tested and verified this fact as of 3/28. If you wish to verify it as well, test it yourself.

There are grief levels as well as grief points. These levels determain how fast you lose it and what happens to you. Grief level 0 is between 0-10 grief and it goes up from there, I don't know exacts since I rarely go into those ranges. If you have 0-10 it goes down far faster. If you have around 700-1000 it goes at a crawl. This is what I have observed over my time playing PS.
