Strong/Slow will typically win when skill is equal imho, luck favors them, but quick/weak will put up a damn good fight most of the time.

I personally prefer Faster, but weaker, because 1 shot kills snipers piss me off. Plus more attacks can sometimes completely interrupt a strong and heavy attack.

EDIT: I actually I didn't see the poll about "which would hurt more".

I have a feeling people are gonna vote quick/ weak just to stick up for the little guy.

I prefer quick soft attacks easily.

With big slow attacks, if you miss you reap the consequences. But with slow and fast strikes its more of a barrage that can make up for a strong's miss. I mean sure these fast attacks it opens up for misses which avoidable with skill.

Take it like this.
For every attack (A) gets (B) gets two in.
(A) hits twice the damage over (B).
Both (A) and (B) will miss once.

(A) hits 10... 10... Miss... 10... = 30
(B) hits 5... 5... 5... Miss... 5... 5... 5... 5... = 35

I'm kind of very analytical and like to take it down to efficency and thats why I always go with the swift weak guys. Besides the big slow ones are a noobs #1 choice. OMGZ I 1 SHOTZERD YUZ!1!!! :bang:

If we're talking about a fist fight, between a bigger guy and a smaller guy...then it depends on fighting skill rather than power/speed. I've seen tons of small guys whoop bigger guys' asses just because they were better fighters.

In other things, like games, I prefer speed but more power usually wins. All depends though.

I am assuming this thread is about fighting games, since I doubt too many of us have experiance in watching street brawls and prize fights.

The best example I can think of is in JKII. I played no force power duels all the time and only used the power attack lightsaber setting. I would always wait for just the right moment after a few of their quick attacks cut me up a bit to swing the big sidelong chop of doom. More often then not I would own the quick little bastards like this. So I liked Strong/slow, but that was because I found I could use it more effectively then I cound the other styles, not because it was better. I think that game had very good balance.

The winner will be the one who knows his style best and can use it well against any other style.

Quick and Weak. Strong attacks don't do much if your opponent is fast enough to evade them, though you might get a lucky hit.

In video games? Quick/weak, do to the miss/hit thing mentioned prviously.

In real life? Strong/slow, cause the more damage you do upfront (ie the first punch) possibly taking the oppenent out, or hampering their ability to fight right off the bat.

This is assuming equal skill though.

If I hit you with a 7.62x39 Russian, it's going to do a lot more damage than a 5.56x45 NATO. If I hit you with a .45 ACP, it will pwn you more than a 9mm.

Because with guns, you only need one hit.

Quick & Weak.

If you build up your speed enough, the enemy wont even be able to hit you, which means you can hit them as much as you need to.

Faster always wins assuming equal skill. If the faster guy knows how to exploit his skills as well as the slower/stronger guy, he will hit more often. The faster guy gets the first hit and if it daizes or otherwise causes the slower guy to flinch, the slower guy then takes a hard one in the gut, then an elbow in the spine, and then gets the crap kicked out of him while he's on the floor. This is of course assuming that it's not a couple of pussies fighting with just fists so nobody really gets hurt. If that's not enough to convince you of faster = better, here's some more evidence.

The vikings pwned europe because they could swing 2 hand axes faster than anybody could swing a 30lb broad sword.

Guerilla warfare pwned the US army in veitnam. As a result, the US military has since taken a greater interest in making all of its forces faster.

Fighter > bomber.

Missle > fighter.

Laser > missle.

And the final reason that faster = better...

Yes, a fist can fuck you up. But one good kick can kill a person. Do you really think a fist can do more damage than a knee, foot, or elbow? I can leg press over 700lbs and I'm not even what you would call a big guy. If I got a good kick on your kidney, or gut, or knee, you would be out of commision. If you were up against a wall and I gave you a striaght kick in the gut, I could kill you. There are people in the world that can kick with a force of over 2000lbs. That can fuck you up.

You forget one thing- hit points. If I hit you twice for 10, that's 20, to your lesser amount. If you're weak, then you can't take that much damage (theoretically). You won't have staying power, you'll begin to be worn down. You assume that your weaker person can stand/survive that long.

This is why TR's weapons are the shittiest. Damage over time only works when you can make constant shots and wear them down- whereas up close where fighting is done, the heavy hitters will kick your ass.
