View Full Version : An Ode to Morons

Anyone know Hazardous a NC on Markov? He is a prime example of why morons should not cert in the Flail. Inside of 10 minutes he managed to kill me 3 times with his Flail while spamming the base and then the tower we were attacking. In one shot he killed me and 3 others as we were pushing the tower CC. He single handedly saved the enemy by saving the CC and allowing for reinforcements. Brilliant.
I tell him that he TKed me 3 times and should pick another cert if he cant use a flail without butchering allied troops.
He then replies Learn to count I killed you only one time. Now I suppose its time for me to explain that the epitaph log only goes back so far and then is overwritten?
How can someone be BR18 and still not understand the basics of how the game is played?
It baffles the mind. At least he picked an appropriate name. LOL!
Anyone else have any good stories about teammates who are more of a bane then a benefit?

To be fair, I had a similar situation to this on my first flail outing, killing like 5 people in 3 shots. But it was also my last; I haven't used it since. :|

2/5 friendly MAX players. I am fucking sick of noobs in MAXs shooting me all the time, not once, but regularly. It is always accidental, but christ, I don't need to be shot in the face right after I drop an enemy. It happens once every couple of days where a friendly in a MAX will consistantly shoot me in a tower AFTER all the enemies are dead. Just 1 shot, bam. I tked 3 MAXs yesterday because they pissed me off so bad doing this. Why is it so fucking hard to tell if the guy in YELLOW FUCKING ARMOUR that your aiming at is friendly? You would think after getting grief the 1st damn time for shooting me without a live enemy in sight they would check their fire a little, but no. A bit of think 1st, fire 2nd is in order for the Markov NC MAX noob brigade.
Maybe he was just new with the flail.

Wel lto be honest, i kill alot of people with my purple-disco-balls of death.
Sometimes FF happens, like calling down a Airstrike on your own position, or taking out a column allied tanks with a A-10.......

Maybe he was just new with the flail.
Perhaps, but it does not take Einstein to figure out that you might not want to Flail spam a CY full of friendly troops or that you might not want to fire into open doors of an enemy tower that is being overrun by friendly troops
For clarification he was firing from a local position overlooking the action, not from some far away location relying of a good laze to aim.
Helpful hints:
1. Green dots on your mini-map are friendly troops.
2. If you are NC the blue and yellow guys are on your team.
3. The kill listing on the top half of the chat window only lists approximately the last 100 lines so it wont be a complete history of the evenings events.
If you made it to BR18 CR1 you should know these basics by now. I'd love to see "Hazardous" (to friend and foe alike) grief after those 15 min of Flail infamy. With each shot that he killed me with he also killed another friendly as well... must have been close to weapons lock...

Ive got the best idea ever. GET RID OF THE FLAIL. Its more trouble than its worth. But yes i have had something similar to that happen to me. It sucked but mine outdose yours by far. 12 times there buddy. I got tked by a flail 12 times before someone in his own squad decided to kill him. YEAH. Those kind of people need to be schooled on the basics of this game. The bane of my existince TKERS!!!!!!!!!!!! w/e whats done is done just thought i would share my story.

I took my sweet time, I was careful, I infiltrated a heavily CE'd CY and was headed for a ramp.
TR idiot <Flail> me
I respawned at the base, to find him in the courtyard. He had the nerve to send me a /tell telling me to watch where I walked. 6 boomers and a jammer got my point across.

People in almost every situation that will run in front of everyone else like goobers just to get that one kill, If i'm shooting at a few enemys and some idiot does this, I usually finish him myself, because he doesn't deserve the pleasure of a frag.

I've used the flail on occasion and have tk'd a total of one person.
Most people that use it are generally stupid. I would be very happy if they removed the flail. It isn't used like it was intended, it is a rampant grief weapon, and it has the ability to singlehandedly camp a tower with the people inside having no possible way to destroy it.

Being a TR on Emerald; I've got a bookfull of stupidity given and taken by my "friendly" troops.
Sigh. I'd start it, but there would be at least 7 forum pages devoted to this, and I don't feel like spamming and getting on the Mods bad side.
Trump card = TR CR5's (for the most part)
Have you killed your crappy neighborhood CR5 lately?

It certainly would not hurt my feelings if the flail was removed. In skilled hands it's an effective long range weapon, but in unskilled hands it's a huge grief machine for the user and a hazard to whatever offense/defense the user's empiremates are attempting.

I won't defend your particular case, but there are times that friendlies cause their own problems. I have used the flail before. I was at distance, depending on my spotter. We had been pounding the base for a few minutes, with some success. Then I send another series of shots (all going to the same area), and bam, 2nd shot nets me 4 friendly kills. Now personally, if a flail is working a base, I don't run up to the area he is firing at, until someone gets word to em. Problem is, some of these folks don't have a clue how to contact a CR5 to continent spam the "cease fire, we are about to storm the base".
My solutions, allow the flail target spots to be partially visible to everyone (maybe a thin red line like OS targeting).
Another would be a /flail type tell command that would spam anyone in a flail. Your about to take base x, just send a "/flail we are about to enter base X, please hold fire".
A more drastic option, make the flail unable to fire WITHOUT a spotter. To compensate, allow anyone with a laze to coordinate as temp fire team so you can see their spots (maybe a /finvite for spotting teams).
One last solution, spawn the flail, then park deploy it (like a router). Make the driver the only person able to get the Laze pointer (and only from that vehicle). Then, force the driver to laze targets himself. He would have to set the laze point first, then click the fire button (add to laze). If he wants to change the aim, set a new laze point (old one disappears immediately). This would cut down on spamming (and would give infiltrators a new role of flail hacking).
Anyway, just thought I would throw out a thoughts.

I like this idea:

But this idea would probably be more effective:

Flails should have a guiding shot, they were going to put one in and nixed it, what it did , is it was a shot that does no damage, but it gives you a nose view of the shot, kinda like shooting a pheonix or deci in 2ndary mode. That way they could see what they were hitting, and whether or not they were gonna hit friendlies

i still say we get rid of the flail. But we might as well live with it cause they will never take it out.(unless we go down to SOE and kill the devs) WHOS WITH ME GET THE DEVS.
But that /flail idea isnt all that bad. CR5s should be able to shut down friendly flails at will.

I remember a while back, i was playing my NC character. so we're defending a base and we havea few people up in the turrets. so i run up on the wall and am looking around for someone to shoot. soon enough i spot someone. so i start shooting at him, and finally killed him. so after i killed him, the guy who was in the the wall turret next to me jumps out and brings me down 50 health. so i took my gauss and shot the wall turret once. he then turns the turret on me and kills me. so i sent him a tell asking why he killed me. so he replies "I've been shooting that guy for like 5 minutes and then you just go and steal the kill." first, i wasn't even shooting at the same guy, and second, WHO FRICKIN CARES. why are people so stupid in this game. please, if you are an idiot, JUST STOP PLAYING, PLEASE! this game does not need idiots.... I mean c'mon, he killed me because I supposedly stole his kill.

My TK experiences are so ridiculous. I use the phoenix rather often, in fact, almost all of my loadouts include the phoenix. I use it like any good anti-tank infantry unit would use the damn thing. Park yourself behind some cover and open fire on all vehicles/turrets/MAXes/infantry that are necessary targets. The thing that drives me absolutely fucking bonkers is when some doofus runs RIGHT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME AND STOPS. I'm in the cover, i'm clearly firing on the enemy, i'm alive, moving, shooting my phoenix, but the idiots always seem to think that since the phoenix is an indirect fire weapon that i can shoot AROUND them when they're TWO FEET in FRONT OF ME. this drives me insane. I reload and quickly try to get off another shot and "XxXCo1dKi11erXxX" or some blue suit rexo-n00b has his ASS right on the end of my barrel. This is a frequent thing. It's not a rarity. It drives me nuts.
What's worse, sometimes it's not some noob who I would expect the stupidity from, it's some BR18 with blazing yellow armor who seems to think that he's teh mister special pants and allcoverbelongstohimsoi'llshoothereyougosomeplacee lse. It pisses me off.
Look, stay out of some guy's line of fire. Expect to be TKed and prepare for a little FF if you like to stray down range a lot.

OK, I'm a Field Artillery officer in the US Army, and if people use flails without forward observers, then they are indeed a morons. The artillery will not fire unless there's a spotter out there telling them where the targets are. There are also several built in safety decions (friendly troop locations, distance between the observer and where the round will land, etc.) that prevent the artillery from hitting friendly troops. If somone is out there just shooting rounds off at random, he needs to stop. Artillery is ment to support the tanks and infantry, not do things on its own.
