Is that like some weird scientific reading mabob-thingy pic of the sun and a plane happened to fly in front of it?

Probably a telescope taking pictures, plane flies in front of it. But i dont think the plane is proportioned right, looks fake.

Thats a photo of the sun through a solar filter with a plane flying past it. Thats what it really looks lke. I have one :D Thats probly though atleast the equivilent of a 16" Neutonian telescope(i wouldnt doubt its from a large 32inch or more form an observatory.). Maybe alot larger. Very good qaulity. Any weird lines or blurs, besides the grains on the son wich are normal, are from the normal interferience from the atmosphere. The plane can be high enough to get some from it i think.

Edit: ok it might be from a camera with some nice equipment, but its the same thing. Equivilent of the picture of a damn nice, and what would normally take, a very big telescope.

Edit2: Sorry, I think thats from a 70mm refractor telescope(unless thats the eyepeice size of a damn big telescope)(im a little rusty on telescope terms). Wow thats good. The qaulity must be from the cameras lenses.

fakeness.

People dont fake telescope pictures like that. And its not that hard to wait for a plane to fly in front of one depending on the location. Ive watched stuff in front of the sun with a solar filter and thats what it looks like. Theres just atmospheric distortions around the plane which is always there unless you have damn fine filters on the telescope and/or the camera besides the solar one or are using the hubble or other space bases telescopes wich couldnt get a picuture of a plane with the worst atmospheric distortion imaginable from looking twice through the edge of the earths atmosphere. But thats what it looks like.

just like how people how fake billboard, t-shirt, and sign pictures?

Theres an overabundance of pictures like that on astronomical websites. And that looks very authentic to me. Ive seen stuff like that before personally. The steam and every thing would show up that fine, especially with that qaulity picture taking capabilities. And if you know what your looking at teh bottom of the picture says what they used to take it. Its looks like a picture from an official site. Thats normal labeling for people who know what there doing. Unless someone lifted an actual picture form an astronomical website in france and added something that you normally can find in pictures like this.

Why not just check the site listed on the bottom of the pic? Wait-- does anyone here read French?

Looks real to me. Thats pretty much what I imagined it would look like. And no matter how good of a filter you have, you are always going to have atmospheric disturbances. Unless of course you are outside the atmosphere like Hubble. You guys should check out SOHO if you want to see some cool sun shots.

Theres no way that can be real, its too unproportioned.

Smaug

In what way? That is pretty accurate. The guy could be pretty close to an airport, taking shots of the sun and the plane just flew right into the shot.

I can believe it. Anything can happen in France.

When i lived in toledo we had planes fly infront of the sun all the time. Like i said it would be easy to get that. And it would look more 3d with your eye. Depending on your vision. Your looking at the plane turning towards you slightly. Thats a shadow image. So its can look flat. The tail is toward you which makes it look like it smaller than it should be and straight up(normally its quite higher than that in comparison the rest of the planes body)(Edit: well it tail isnt that far off.). The wing toward you is angled so your looking more straight at it so it looks smaller and the other wing is more the normal size cause your seeing it more from the top. I used to be into aircraft too. So im used to looking at planes in flight. Also the engines are in the inner part of the wing. Which is why the smoke away from you looks so out of line. Thats actually a bit more up the smoke trail than it looks. It also looks like theyre turning more by what i think is using one aeloron(cant spell today.), and the plane is more dipping on one side to turn than using both sides of the plane to turn from an axis in the middle of the plane.

It's not fake you nipples. I have a 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain with a solar filter. You know it's true if I'm agreeing with Ait'al. Fuck.

EDIT: Found a pic of a SC like mine. Envy me.

That is definately a fake. The perspective of the plane is not right at all. The nose of the plane, and also the size of the wing engines and placement of the tail engine is off by too much to attribute to atmospheric distortion. Assuming that you're viewing the plane's under side, you would not be able to see the bottom front portion of the tail engine if the wings were banked the way they are in that pic. Yet in that pic, you can clearly see the entire tail engine. The angle and height of the tail is also off by quite a bit. And if you look closely, you can see a bit of pixel distortion around the plane's outline, where it looks as though somebody tried to blur the outline using the blur tool in photoshop.

ITs unproportioned. Period.

You're looking at the sun in an extremely zoomed in format. Thats like look at an ant on the ground while standing up, and putting your finger in front of your face.

The picture is likely misleading, trying to convince you France is worth something. fnord

The plane is in proportion if viewed correctly. The left wing looks a little odd because of the winglet sticking up, it looks like the wing is bent. The tail engine would not be blocked looking at it from this view. The 'pixel distortion' is most likely from jet wash.

That's because a huge fucking sun is behind it warping what it looks like. :p

You know how heat waves will make solid objects look like they're sorta waving around. Same thing happening to the plane.
