First of all I'd just like to say hi to everyone who posts here, I will be joining you for a while :) I find Planetside is to my liking not only as first-person shooter, but also as a strategic coopertive game.

So on to my questions...I downloaded a seven day trial of PS from Fileplanet to get my feet wet. Since I like the game, I plan to continue to play on a monthly subscription. The only thing is I don't know if SOE will allow me to do that with this trial account. Can I continue from this account, or do I need to go out and purchase a copy of PS and start a new account. If I must do the latter, then my Rank Seven character won't transfer over and I'll pretty annoyed, if I can find out before the weekend, it won't be so hard to get him back to that rank on Friday night

Secondly, I wanted some input on my Terran heavy soldier certifications. I want to make him able to use heavy guns but still be able to pilot a vehicle. I planned on the following certifications:

Medium assault weapons (2)
Heavy assault weapons (4)
Anti-Vehicular weapons (3)
Reinforced Exo Armor (3)
Basic medical and basic engineering skills (6)
Prowler OR Skyguard/Marauder buggies (3)

This leaves two points that I could put into something like another light vehicle such as the Basilisk or advanced engineering. Is it a good overall template or does it need a tweak or two?

Lastly, I wanted to know which implants were the most efficient for a heavy soldier. I have not spent my first implant abiliity that I got at level six. Someone in game suggested to me that I get a the personal shield, speed surge, and audio amplifier or darklight vision. I was reluctant to believe someone I knew in game for a few seconds, and there are some people who would just give a newbie bad advice to see him ruin a character. Those implants sounded decent on paper, but I don't know if they are worth it yet. And for darklight vision, it says that it "greatly reduces your normal visibility while allowing you to detect cloaked enemies in the area," does mean that your viewing range is cut short permanently as a trade off? And is that really worth it?

All help is appreciated, but please don't reply just to flame or call me a newbie.

Im pretty sure you need to buy the game if you havnt already. But yes im pretty sure you may continue just select another payment type with the same name. But you must buy the game. happy hunting and have fun.

I occasionally play TR. First certs get Cycler and Reaver good combo. First implant get darklight

All your certs are right but I think something is wrong there.

Goto the cert calculater on the homepage of PSU and add it up.

No, theyre right.

3 initial points + 20 BR's = 23. The certs there add to 21, leaving 2.

Yea, I went to the calculator and everything is fine.

Ok, so you agree with my certs, but what about my vehicle choice? I really don't know which one is the most important. I tried out the Prowler, but I think I'm going to forget it because I can't drive it with my best armor on, and it takes at least two people to drive and fire the main gun. Would I be better off going with a single man aircraft that can take out infantry and tanks? Then I wouldn't need to rely on two other people to do my shooting.

for implants u can switch them out at anytime. so try them and see what ones u like then get those.

Oh, cool. So my only real questions left is which vehicle is most significant in a battle? I can tell the pros and cons of each, but I don't know which is needed more. I see a lack of Skyguards and air support when I fight, and an over abundance of Prowlers, so I'm thinking maybe the Marauder/Skyguard cert would be more useful. Or maybe the Lightning, because it can be operated by one person, so I won't need to rely on another person to shoot my guns.

TR on Emerald desperately need more prowlers, but prowlers arent good for getting from point A to point B. Personally I like the Mosquito, or the light scout (harasser and lightning).

With 2 points left you should take the Adv Medic cert. You will be loved by every squad you join.

after your 7 day trial runs out the game will ask you to put a new cd-key. this HAS to be from an original copy of the game. you get a free month with the game.

If you get rid of the prowler you will have 5 points left.

I would suggest getting Air Cavelry for the Reaver and Mosquito combo which gets you both tech and non-tech vehicles. You would have one cert point left but thats how I am now too. BTW, those certs that you have and if you get Air Cav would be the exact same certs as me.

Implants: Surge is getting fubared here soon so don't even try to pick that up. I would say get DarkLight to see cloakers, Personal Shield for your gruntwork with Rexo, and it's between Audio Amp and Enhanced Targetting for your Reaver flying.

I'd agree with most everything said here. My first implant was always darklight (I hate cloakers!!) and the 2nd was adv. targeting. As for certs, I'd recommend outfitting yourself in such a way that you can get from A to B quickly, but not get killed by any shmuck that comes along. As such, I'd suggest getting rexo and assault buggy. You can drive the buggies in rexo, and if you have a gunner that's a plus. Just my suggestion.

I'm going for the assault buggies, nothing can change my mind. I'm sick of having idiots jump in my Prowler only to fire the main gun directly at an enemy that is five feet from us and blowing us all to hell. The Prowler is too slow for me as well, but the flyers are seriously HARD to fly without a joystick, for me anyway. The Marauder is becoming a favorite because the GP gun does better damage than the Prowler because the balance between damage and volume of fire, plus it is faster and can speed around slower enemy tanks while having a COMPETENT ally lob grenades at him. I also get Skyguard for air defense when holding a base.

I'm a NC combat/leader person. My normal loadout is a Gauss Rifle, Pheonix missile launcher, REK, and command uplink device. Well I wouldn't know about the Heavy assault, but I'm just informing you that being a combat specialist doesn't mean you cant take up other things. I play as a special ops soldier. I can get into combat wit my two weapons, command with my commander cud, drive with my skyguard or enforcer, and hack. Actually I've just though about how impossible it is for you to do all those things right now but i recommend a vehicle to get around.

Mandalore, as to your problems about playing with incompetent and/or uncoordinated allies, I seriously recommend that you fall in with a high-level outfit. If you're on Emerald, I highly suggest BWC, as well as the Dragonwolves. If you're on Markov, and you're TR, then you're screwed anyway. Provided that you can purchase a mic/headset and D/L TS2, a good Outfit will double both your BEP and your fun. As to your certs, you're using a generic build: personally, I'd recommend something a bit more eclectic. Here's a sample of what my TR is going to look like:

Reinforced Exosuit
Infiltration Suit (For OSes and recon)
Medium Assault
Special Assault
Anti-Vehicular
Medical
Engineering
Combat Engineering
Hacking

This build allows your character to conduct spec ops, recon, and old-school gruntwork. Assuming your squad has a guy with Ground Transport/Air Support, you'll be set for a variety of situations. Also, if you prefer grunting to spec ops, ditch CE and the Inf Suit for Heavy Assault.
