wow!! The weather system is gonna own. Planning attacks based on what is going on in a storm. Should give outfits a lot more to look foward to. Plus the fact that seeing a thunderstorm in the far distance would be a hell of a site!!

In the Navy, we have a rate called AerographersMate or AG (Thats my rate) If they added that as a cert.. make it the AG cert :)

Woo! Sounds awesome! It's kinda funny that we're just now hearing about NTUs and ANTs though, since they sound like such a critical point of the game. Wow this just opens up a whole new, humongous, can of worms. Now you can cut off a facility's supply (kill all ANTs that try to resupply the base) and capture them when they lose control of the base. So defenders can't turtle indefinately inside. They HAVE to resupply.

Weather...just...wow. No words man, I'm too psyched... Can you imagine watching a fog bank moving in off the ocean? Or hear a thunderstorm rolling in from the distance. This game is just...awesome...:drools: :drools: :drools:

The towers are also sounding cool (I wonder if there are seperate NTUs for them...) Landing sounds like more fun now. And it's cool that you can spawn vehicles everywhere too. This is sweet! The Devs sure are gonna have a heckuva lot more questions to be answering at that chat now.

*lapses into a fit of incoherent babbling and drooling:drools: *

As a Nuke, I hated you guys.

While we toiled in the bowels of the ship, you punks hung out in the Ivory Tower (i.e. the Island). Of course, if your not on a Carrier, you have no idea of which I speak.

HAHA, yeah, we worked 8 on 16 off every time the ship went underway... man work was interffering in my work out and video game play time too...

There are three types of Towers: Gun Tower, Watch Tower, and Air Tower. Gun Towers are three-stories with turrets at the top. Air Towers are similar to Gun Towers, but with air vehicle landing pads. Watch Towers have no turrets, but are five stories tall allowing great sniping and observation points.

Our basic Resources system is in-place now. Each facility requires an NTU Silo to be powered in order to maintain energy in the grid for terminals and such. The Silo drains as the facility is used, and very slowly even if not used, and if it reaches zero, then all energy to the facility is lost. (Time from full power to zero is still being tweaked.) However, unlike when a generator is destroyed, if a Silo loses all energy, then the facility reverts to Neutrality and must be recaptured (rather than merely resecured).

To make it easier to move around in the world, there are now vehicle pads at all facilities. The Galaxy dropship is still restricted to only the Sanctuary and Dropship Centers, but all "standard" vehicles (vehicles that don't require a pre-req certification to learn to use) are available at all facilities now. If your Empire owns a Tech Plant on a continent, then you can acquire ALL vehicles (except the Galaxy) at ALL facilities on that continent.

yeah, encirlcing a base en masse, killing any ANTs coming out, until they deploy half their forces to guard a convoy, hoping that at least 1 will get through. If all the lights inside and outside a base went out, except for a slight glow from fluorescent panels or something, that would ROCK. outside you could only see by muzzle flashes and headlight, or a moon if at night. HEy, I thought of something! Will the night and day cycles have like a moon and a sun like earth's? that would kick ass too.

this might be a dumb question BUT. since there is a weather system which sounds awsome. is there gonna be massive rain storms (monsoons) which could slow down a squad or tornados or lightening?? or does it just get dark and noisy with minimal rain effects or something? and if you could get struck by lightening would die instantly? :)

on second thought i remember hearing something like there are no such things as dumb questions just dumb people. in which case this might hold true!!

Awesome. This is going to add sooo much to game tactics, especially if visibility is limited in a rain/snowstorm or if radar becomes somewhat fuzzy and unreliable in a storm....I can see it now, defenders of a base cursing their forturne as a storm appears on the horizon, while the attackers smile like wolves....

Can the weather hurt you?

What if there was lightning storm, can that damage your vehicles?

if you were a galaxy pilot flying in a rain storm, how would it affect you?

Theres no information on that Kyonye. I dont even think there is going to be lighting storms. But you never know.

Wow, I should be paying more attention to PS happenings. This is great news, especially weather being implemented.

I will be interested to hear how it runs. In my current PC, I usually have to turn off weather to stop from lagging in games like Tribes (Raindance used to give me fits in T1), I can only imagine how it would be on a large map with 50 or so enemies and friendlys surrounding me.

I'll also be interested to see how capturing towers plays into each sides strategy as well as their location to specific bases. It seems if you have towers very close to bases where the enemy can spawn, that could be quite an advantage for the attacker. The Watch Tower seems virtually useless imo. If a sniper chose to get up into that tower to snipe, the attacking sniper would have a cover advantage (depending on the terrain and the final decision on how many hps for a kill on other snipers) and the 5th floor would be the first spot the attacking sniper looks.

Then again, if you have a watch tower with no cover around it, it would be almost impossible to capture.

One other thing, how are the guns on the Gun Tower controlled? Do you have a "command station" where you can control them from inside the base? Do you have to get "into" the gun to control it? Or do is it a gun that reacts to sensors?
