I just picked up a copy of this game. Holy shit are the graphics good. And the AI is fucking genious. I canm up agains a squad of guys in the jungle. The leader in the back was barking out orders, "Left flank, move out!... Right flank HOLD!" That made my jaw hit the fucking floor. The guys were doing exactly what he said too. I decided to put a sniper round in the head of the leader to see what heppened. The guys scattered. They eached started moving individuly and were alot easier to take out. The draw distance is unbelivable too. I can snipe people or listen to their conversations with a laser mic from half the island away! (Ok, not that far but thats what it feels like.) This game is what Halo for PC could of been.

I give it 4.5 out of 5 groovys: :groovy: :groovy: :groovy: :groovy: :groo

HFS, the multiplayer sucks.
This is why a farcry cd will never touch my Comp. (the trial version tho.... perhaps)

The SP 0wnz!!! You can do whatever you want on this island, just like in Black & Whie :D (Uhm yeah, FPS functions).

You go somewhere, and you have 3 ways to decide which one you want to take. And the story is also really cool.

If you like singleplayer, BUY IT!

The first mission for the demo gave you more than 10 different ways to get to one set of stairs.

Engine owns, game sucks. That was farcry's purpose, to show the engine. Hopefully someone will make a game using it that is. Cough. Better.

Id say just modern. none of the weapons are really ahead-of-the-time(some are not used very much yet, like the OICW) well the rocket launcher is a little futuristic.

this game is great I dont care what anyone says. no one can judge it until you buy it.

Far Cry does indeed pwn and is the best single player experience I have had since Half-Life

True, but all those genetically engineered things make it feel futuristic. I can't wait till I get to fight them. They sound bad ass.

Far Cry is fucking brillant, Far Cry uses Havok Physics to actually effect the gameplay just not look cool (Example: May Payne 2) and the graphics are Doom 3-ish. Its great and it seriously makes Half Life 2 not look as impressive. You can shoot a chain that is holding a big box and smash the enemies. Keep in mind Havok is what Half Life 2 uses and all that cool Half Life 2 Gameplay is in-deed in Far Cry. All thats missing is Gordan Freeman and City 17.

They do use the same base physics engine, but I've played with parts of HL2 (shhh, don't tell anyone ;)) and it definately puts it to better use than far cry. Far cry's physics are good, but HL2 definately puts Havok to better use with many many more dynamic objects per level than far cry. Source is a more powerful engine than crytek, but only by a very slim margin. The only thing that crytek really beats valve's Source engine with is dynamic polygon reduction code. Source can do massive view distances, but it wouldn't handle the dense foliage at long view distances as well as crytek does, or at least with as little effort as crytek does. With Source, you'd have to manually create a tree with fewer polygons to be used at longer view distances. With crytek, the engine reduces polygons on the fly. Oh yeah, and I'm not sure how half-life 2 handles the lighting on models. But CryTek uses a proprietary technology called polybump, which basicly allows you to create a million polygon character model, and then put the light map from that onto a model with like 3000 polys and have the 3000 polygon model look almost indistinguishable from the million polygon model, except around the outline of the model. Doom3 uses a similar technique to handle its dynamic lighting.
