<------biggest NASCAR fan on the forums.

I live near Richmond, which is a real treat because IMO its one of the best tracks on the circuit. There's close racing, pit strategy, rivalries and wrecks all rolled into one.

I've also been to the daytona 500 three times, as well as martinsville twice. I hope to go to Bristol next year and maybe Charlotte.

Don't really have a favorite driver anymore. Used to like Jeff Gordon, now I kinda favor Robby Gordon just because I like his style (rubbin is racin). I am in a pool with 24 other guys and am currently in first place :).

So yeah, you're not alone :D

they had a NASCAR thing at the local IMAX threater. I thought it was very interesting. I have a newfound respect for NASCAR. it was a little disappointing that it didnt show dale earnhart's crash.

Roundy-round racing sucks. I don't want to watch "stock" (stock as in completely custom car with the plastic shell of a Taurus/Grand Am/Dodge) cars go in a circle for two hours. Give me Formula 1 any day.

Formula 1? give me a break!
a season in F1
"who won the last race?"
"M.Schumacer"
"oh, who won before that?"
"the same guy"
"oh"
"yea"
who will get the pole in the next race?"
"M.Schumacer"
"i see"
"yea"
"whats M.Schumacers worst finish?"
"3rd"
"ah, right..."
---------------------------------------
Victory lane, End of season
---------------------------------------
"m.schumacer wins his... lets see... 7th championship! WOW! what a suprise!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next season
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"schumacer gets the pole (again)"
"he wins 80%.... Oooo never saw that coming"

Yeah, I forgot that part. He makes it so boring. Notice that he can speed through the pits, jump the start, and maybe even hit a pit crew guy and he gets no penalty. Someone does 56 in the pits and gets a stop-and-go.

how are the races at charlotte and the rock? I've wanted to go to both of those tracks.

And I bet you were pissed they cut the rock's second race out this year OMA. :(. I'm not a fan of all this new prodigy rookie/new track reforms/kick out the old tracks. In my opinion, NASCAR was at its best in the early 90's. I don't really like all the new rookies completely blowing away the veterans. Plus there are no real rivalries anymore (Spencer doesn't race anymore so no rivalry between him and Busch). However, I am enthusiastic about the new points system, as I really thought last season was a drag with Mr. Consistency (Kenseth) winning the championship by an ungodly amount because he finishes 7th every week. This should make the races more exciting than they all ready are :).

And by the way, take off air plate restrictors. If you are going to watch "stock" cars drive around in a ring for two hours, may as well have them go faster.

If they did this, the cars would reach speeds in excess of 240 MPH I believe. Speeds that high would be extremely dangerous and would make it even easier for a car to flip or have a deadly wreck.

If you've ever seen a wreck where a car is upended, the car was probably spun out first and lost air on its rear spoiler, thus causing it to go airborne. This is all ready happens way too often, and with more speed, would happen even more.

The fastest lap ever turned in NASCAR was 212 MPH by Bill Elliot in Talledega. This was in 1987, 17 years ago. Imagine what a fully suped car, full with all the technological advancements that have happened since then could do if left unrestricted. The results of a crash at that speed would not be pretty.

Simply put, taking off the restrictor plates would make racing at Talledega and Daytona extremely hazardous to both the drivers and the fans.

I'ma bigger nascar fan that all of you guys.

I watch it every weekend if its on TNT i get a friend to record it, all my t-shirts but for like 3 are nascar, half the posters in my room are nascar (the other half is baseball and linkinpark(LINKIN PARK woot!), my first nascar race was the D500 (which happened to be last feb, so its my only race), and apperantly my wallpaper on the desktop is dale earnhardt sr.

Oh and my fave tracks are Mag-Mower's least favorite......+Daytona500/Pepsi400
fav driver: 24, 8, 48

Reason why i like nascar over formula1: hard to keep track of who's in the lead (roadcourse or not, you can't see the number on the car much less the desing), if they get nicked on the side they out, they sound like bee's not muscle cars. Stockcars are easy to keep track of, they can get scratched to the roll cage and still roll over the finish line (refering to one of Dale Earnhardts top 10 with a fucked up car), they sound like bitchas.

"Awesome Bill from dawsonville" did it again in 1989 actually it wasn't offical but at talledega he set a new record at 224mph.
But anyway favorite tracks Sears point (They don't race there anymore) and Watgin's glen (I know the spelling is off but I don't remember how to spell it.) and Talledega Favorite drivers: Mark Martin, (Yes the viagra guy) Bill Elliot (to bad he races a dodge now) Allen Kuiwicke (To bad he is dead) Davey allison (another dead guy) and the only young guy I like is Matt Kenseth.

I like daytona, I dont know where i said i didnt... the reason why they dont take restrictor plates off is bcause the cars aren't blocky anymore, and the engines are 750hp, just imagine what elliot sadler flip at talledeg would have been like without restrictor plates           :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

I'm an avid NASCAR fan. The only races I've seen in person have been in Vegas.
Fave drivers: Little E, Matt Kenseth (home state dude), Tony Stewert, and hell.. a few more...

Remember Dick Trickle? He's from my hometown in Wisconsin. I used to deliver pizzas to his shop before he moved down South.

No, we don't drive the wrong direction, otherwise, the nations populous would all be concentrated in one place. We apparently drive on the wrong side of the road, according to you yanks, but I prefer to think correctly, and say that we drive on the other side of the road from you.

BizSAR

Hahaha...just joking with you. Actually, my context was more exact. In Europe (OK, everywhere but in the US/Nextel Cup, I believe), cars are raced in a clock-wise direction. Here they race in a counter-clockwise direction. We always gotta be different, eh?

I hadn't thought about what side of the road we drive on. I think I'd wrap myself around a telephone pole or end up with a head-on collision if I drove much over there. That and I'd be constantly getting in the wrong side of the car. I bet you see some of that over there. *Damn tourists!*

Formula 1 is fun to watch right at the beginning when everyone jockeys for position. After the first few laps it gets boring in my opinion due to the fact that since the races are rather short, the guy that starts out dominating usually ends up dominating as there is a lack of time for adjustments.

So do I.

I hate it when this one driver gets his ass kissed by every single person on the planet (to the dismay of his teammate) because he's "The Best Driver Ever."

Let me tell you about Fangio.

Back when racing took balls (the fifties and sixties), when it was a life-or-death thing, there was Juan Manuel Fangio. There were no 'driver aids', no 'traction control', no 'downforce', there was just you and the car, with a helmet as safety. This man won five world championships when driving was hard.

This German klutz racing for Ferrari (I remember Australia, '93, where he literally rammed another driver off the course to win the World Championship) wins five in this era. It's a lot easier now. So because he is the #1 driver of the team, Barrichello has literally been asked to pull over and let Schumacher take the lead so that he gets the points.

Besides, he's been winning like every race for fucking forever. Tell him he's too old to drive or something.

There are two kinds of F1 fans: Those who were watching during Australia '93 and those who weren't. HE RAMMED HILL OFF THE ROAD TO WIN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
