Seriously, Publishers Its time for DVD, Alot of Computers have DVD-Drives now, Stop Making the DVD a Special Edition. DVDs Should have gone mainstream in PC Gaming LONG ago. Make the DVD the Primary Edition. Far Cry is 5 CDs and UT2004 is 6, this is way to much. Look at the minimum system requirements for both:
Far Cry
Supported OS: Windows 98SE/2000/XP (only)
Processor: 1 GHz
RAM: 256 MB
Video Card: 64 MB DirectX 9.0b-compatible graphics card
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0b-compatible PCI card
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: 4x DVD
Hard Drive Space: 4 GB
Multiplayer: Broadband with 64 Kbps upstream to play (512 Kbps upstream to host 8 players)
UT2004
Operating System: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP
Processor: Pentium III or AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz processor or faster (1.5 GHz or faster processor recommended)
Memory: 128 MB RAM minimum (256 MB recommended)
Hard Disk Space: 5.5 GB free
Video: Any Windows-compatible video card(NVIDIA GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon with at least 64 megs of video memory recommended)
Sound: Windows-compatible sound card. NVIDIA nForce(tm) or other motherboards/soundcards containing the Dolby Digital Interactive Content Encoder required for Dolby Digital audio
DirectX: DirectX version 8.1(included)or higher
Multiplayer: Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP)play supported | 33.6K baud modem or broadband Internet connection recommended
If you have the power to run these games you should have a DVD Drive. My Point is if you Game fits on more than 3 CDs, Please Put it on DVD. It saves money, does anyone have any evidence to argue against it?
