Every one talks about how new ideas carn't work as i will stress the server, and how much lag there is, whell why not have a program that looks over the servers and shuts down any un-needed stuff when the server is too strested.
i.e. Alot of people are out there in planetside with there graphics at high, I have mine at low and its still good, so why not have the server turn it's output of graphics from high to low to help with the lag, or lower pop lock to smaller numbers on conts affecting the server, kick people out.
Or have someone to look over the server at peak times to turn down the graphics if needed.
Whell, what do you think?

Wouldn't work. First thing, lag is mostly caused clientside, not server side. It is a function of the persons machine. If someone wants to run graphics at high, and gets lag, thats his problem. Also, how would you measure lag? Additionally, if they started kicking players/dropping populations, they would lose customers. If they ever notice they have too many players, they will just reopen one of the servers and allow folks to migrate.

I have noticed my game will play at a TOTALY playable level at 20-25fps unless my downstream ping goes up, this only happens in big battles and i notice that alot of people also get the pingspikes at the same time as me cuassing them more lag, i also nitcie that Comps with very good specs have this problems but to a lesser degree

Like KIAsan says, the server just sends numbers, how the client interperates those numbers is up to the user's settings.

I just turned up all my graphics yesterday to full and the game still runs quite well, I can still get my kills while it looks amazing. My FPS is a steady 20-25 in zerg and it's only hard to play when my downsteam skyrockets.

Yeah I think the best way to avoid lots of lag and have more fun (outside of getting a better computer) is for them to re-open one of the merged servers again. I don't think it needs to be done now, but the number of players grows everyday so soon they may have to.

BTW, another good thing that helps your FPS is turning your bandwidth setting down to Low.

Really? How much FPS difference did you notice doing this?

10-15 Increase on a:
1.8 Ghz P4
640 RAM
Radeon 9600np
I don't know all the FSB and the exact specs on the ram so bare with me.

Just to let you know the servers have nothing to do with graphic settings. Its all based on your computer. When we get planetside "Lagging" Its acctualy our processors chopping. Not the servers.

Thanks for clearing that up for us Peace ;)

Bandwidth at low makes ur graphics run faster because you don't get nearly as much downstream.

Sorry peace but sometimes it is server lag connected, i no this becasue alot of times when Bh is doing stuff quite a few of us hit lag at exactaly the same, time coupled with very high Downstream Ping rates, witch seem to have gotten very hight lately with the server merge.

i've got ping up to 20000-30000 one time, bad lag
