I have been working on my car now for awhile, and a new problem has arisen. I am sure most of you have had this problem before (As it seems to be a common problem with older cars) but my hood is stuck. I pull on the lever in the cab, but my hood doesn't pop up like it should.
Can anybody tell me how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

The hinges that open it could be very stiff. when was the last time you opened it? if you do get it open, just oil the hinges and latch with 3-in-1 oil and it should be fine.

Is there any noise coming from the front when you pull on the lever? The cable may have snaped.
Sometimes the cable that connects the lever and the latch at the front of the hood gets stretched out just enough not to activate the latch when pulled. See if you can get at the end of it (inside the car) and get it with a vise-grips. If that doesn't work, theres only one option left. Trained gerbils with tiny little wrenches.

Cable has not snapped, I feel tension when I pull the release, it just doesn't pop up. I hear dounds from the front of the hood where the latch is, but it never pops up like it should.

remember the golden rule of fixing things.
Duct tape and WD-40.
if it moves and its not supposed to, duct tape it. if it doesnt move and its supposed to, put wd-40 on it.
solves every problem.

What if your problem is a tactical nuclear weapon moving at 260 mph at an altitude of 200 feet with a tomahawk cruise missle for a delivery system? Wtf would you do then?

then I think the latch is just rusted or something. if you cant get it, take it to a body shop, or even gas station w/ a service garage, and when youre filling the tank just ask one of them to help you out.

Build a bunker out of a couple million rolls of duct tape, then spray the top of your bunker with WD40 in hopes that.... uh.... the missile will just... um, slide off?

Since you failed to specify a delivery area, make it go to the opposite end of the country, better yet, Mexico, and not do a goddamn thing.

Ok, I feel stupid...
Got my brother to pull the release in the cab while I banged the hood trying to get it to pop up.
I was just about to give up when I got the idea to lift up, it worked. Evidently the release was releasing the whole time, the spring just wasn't poping the hood up.
