Well, today i was checking out the alienware aurora, i went to help me choose selection, and did comparisons on my pc to the alienware get this, my computer 100%
alienware 1502%, so i was wondering if there was an equation to see how planetside would run on the alien

I love how I have a better system than their lower-end Auroras and yet it gives the Alienware a better rating.
That rating thing is total bullshit take it from me...
edit: pheer the annoyingly-long new sig :D
edit 2: in fact, very annoyingly long. ::Trims::

ok, so im thinkg,
planetside runs like 15 fps in sanctuary (dont laugh)
ok, would it be like frames X 1500= frames X 15= 15 fps X 15= 225 frames per second in the sactuary, w00t

yeah but don't get an alienware, also 255 may be a bit high

I have an alienware, will full specs, PS runs perfectly. my FPS is generally at 80 fps, in any situation.

I typically have around 230+ FPS in the sanc with all graphics maxed. I'm pretty sure if I dropped my gfx settings to lowest and modified my DirectX settings, I could get over 300 FPS easily.

I ran the comparison program.
My PC: 100%
Area51 Extreme ($3244): 114%
So.. it's 14% better. Can't wait till I overlock this puppy. I wonder if the program will show the Alienware machine to be weaker? Or will it just show them to be equal? heh heh heh..

i did the comparison.
My PC: %100
Area51 Extreme: %420
I'm %90 sure the thing is true though.

why are you all talking about alieware PC's they are INCREDIBLY expensive.... just spend a day on the web and learn how 2 build ur own... a lot cheaper and u end up liking it way more coz u know all the ins outs and overkloks :)
ow and i would probably hold of on the 64 bit chips till they come down in price or wait until the FX-53 is easily avail coz then all the old FX-51's will go dirt cheap.... actually for now ur bttr off wid somthin like and Athlon XP 3000+ they are soopa cheap stick it on a decent M/B with a ATI 9600Pro 256 meg and it ends up coming 2 less and 600 quid! and thats wid 512Mb 3200 DDR ram... trus me it run PS fine! ther is little point gettin 900FPS coz ur con probs wont handle it sooo... build ur PC cheaper and wait for 64 bit chips 2 get cheap! ow nd also wait for XP 64 bit edition..... then go out and build a water cooled FX-53 9800XT GOD!!!.... soz got a littel ovr excited there... ow well!

Good, but there are a few small things I would change.
For starters, lose the 300 gig monster of a hard drive. Replace it with 2 7200 RPM 120 gig SATA drives (which you can get for $100 USD each on newegg.com) and run them in RAID off of your motherboard (which has the capability built-in). The result would be equivelent to a 240 gig HD that runs at MUCH higher speeds than an ATA133, and for probably less (not sure what the CD:USD exchange rate is right now, hell, I live practically on the border, I should know these things!)
Also, I really don't know too much about sound cards, but from what I hear, anything less than the Audigy 2 ZS series is a rip-off. I've seen many people saying that their Audigy has either screwed up their computer, or is hardly any better than their on-board sound. If you do what I suggest above, you could probably easily afford an Audigy 2 ZS. (Definately go for the most out of that nice speaker set you are getting.)
Also, the memory heatspreaders are unneccesary. Your Corsair XMS RAM comes with heatspreaders of the same color already on them (including a thermal compound between the chips and the 'spreaders, so swapping heat sinks would probably reduce performance, and possibly damage your RAM). So I advise dropping that item from your list, you really don't need them at all.
As for the network card, I'm pretty sure your mobo has a few network ports in it already... a network card wouldn't be necessary I don't think. (Unless you really need more than 2 network ports.) Your mobo's networking should perform just as well as a card, though I'm not certain. Somebody who knows networking please correct me if I'm wrong.
One last question, which AMD 64 CPU does that mobo come with? I'm just curious. I have an AMD 64 3200+ myself, and I love it. If that thing comes with an AMD 64 3400+ (like I suspect) you should be more than set.
edit- disregard above, I checked, and it does come with that CPU. Very nice! Your computer will FLY, I promise ;)
Hope that helps...

hhhmm a few things id personally change......
1 replace that Geforce woth a Radeon 9800XT.... it beats the GeFroce at the moment... or wait till the shiny nu GeForces come out and wrk on a PCI express (man is that gonna rock!)
Just use onboard sound.... im sure ur M/B will have it.....
Use onboard networking
go and buy a RTL athlon (it will then come with a gd cooler!)
Loose the HDD coolers... and why do u need such a huge HDD (u pakin a serious porno collection??)
size it down to a 40 or 80 gig drive make sure its 7200 (or even better one of the western digi raptors at 10,000 revs :D)
ow and like the guy said get rid of the ram coolers! (and if u get the chance make the memory 400!)
and chek wat processor u get with the thing coz oderwise u could be gettin scrood
Gd Luck
Chek out Build Your Own.Org (http://www.buildyourown.org) to learn ho 2 build!

^ wow do I hear an echo in here? sandiman pretty much repeated what I said BUT:
I would get a Radeon 9800 XT also but the GeForce is just fine. Don't wait for PCI express like he says, it wont work in that mobo.
No, you shouldnt use onboard sound (Not when you are getting a 5.1 speaker system). Like I said. Audigy 2 ZS.
People need to learn to read the entire post before writing. As mentioned, I checked that mobo and it comes with a great CPU, the AMD 64 3400+.
The HDD coolers are unnecessary, but fun to have (plus they move air through the case up top a little better). So, I would leave it in. Extra air movement in the case is never a bad thing.
I already said what you should do with the hard drives. As for the Raptors, they are great, but expensive, and only 80 gigs apiece. If you are going to get a Raptor, you might as well get 2 and RAID them. However, that would only be 160 gigs. If you want more space (like it seems you do) go with my original suggestion.
as for the athlon comment.. uhm, regular athlons don't work in this board. only AMD 64s. and it comes with the CPU. so yeah...
one last thing i forgot to mention. That Speeze cooler isnt that much better than the stock cooler that comes with your CPU. I would suggest something like a thermaltake venus 12 instead, if you are really looking for a high-performance heat sink
