Ultima Online also hasnt seen any significant updates since 1997.

Name a game people actually play for more then a year becuase i usually dont.

ESPECIALLY when the companies release expansions instead of updates.

Sure Everquest has alot of people but its also about 15 different games.

Ultima Online sucked after the first 13 decades.

Ultima X WILL suck bc origin sold out to EA. MxO SUCKS. WoW SUCKS. LINEAGE2 SUCKS. EQ2 CAN SUCK IT.

Ultima Online has pretty bad graphics. Especially for people like Origin who have alot of resources from their 150k subscribers.

And again I do not beleive in expansion packs. Its money grubbing I say. And in a pay to play environemnt where they DO make a profit off your subscription. Its almost criminal.

Everquest also IS not one game. It is many different expansions and they are NOT compatible with each other.

DaoC does release free expansions but I dont think I mentioned them?

150k people still play Ultima , doesnt make it right. I mean if a group of 2 dozen terrorists crash a plane into a building does that make those 2 dozen people right?

WoW sucks in my opinion becuase Warcraft never had the sstory to make it an MMO. It involves races and classes that were never seen before in ANY Warcraft game. Instead of trying to sell on the name alone, make something original (since thats what they are trying to do).

EQ isnt one game because you it isnt one consistant game world.

The original game will allow yout o play in the original world with original items, characters, and content. Then you get the expansion which is not compatible with the original but is still just say a new continent and some new special abilities and maybe some different looking textures giving it a different look. NOT the same game.

Yeah this is a buisness and not a charity but a scam is a scam. They can easily (EQ) just add the worlds and new abilities and wahetevr in addition to the original. Instead they box it fancy and call it an expansion and new content. Sure not everyone on a 56k would be able to download the updates if they did it that way, but instead of charging 30$ for expansions, charge people 5$ for the price it cost them to buy and burn the CDs. They are just making a fancy box and going through distributors inw hich they jack up the price even more.

Your subscription pays their salary's and the hardware(computers), and bandwith(their connections or hosts). They make a substantial profit off of this. Sure for them the first 3 months are nail biters but it RACKS up in the long run. Say COH has 5000 subscribers (which is EASY for them). 5000 at 15$ a month = 750,00 a month. COH client willr un no more then 150kbs per second so that is 5000 X 150kbps = under or just about 40,000 in bandwith and server co locations. Inititally the 50$ box purchase pays for the hardware so we can leave that out. Which means they NET about 35,000USD a month. Sure might not seem like alot but my numbers are gratitutios in that they WILL have ALOT more then 5000 subscribers and if they have about 30 developers(i know they have less) they are doing ok and even WELL. Hardware costs barely nothing and maintenance is not a problem. How many people do you think it takes to make a game? I can tell you it doesnt take much. I bet they have about 2 dozen people. They are well into the middle class range in standard of living and it just compounds past 5000 subscribers.

So why ruin a good thing and not release content and make an excuse that your releasing an expansionw hich is the same game engine and just new animation models and they call it something new. Programming is programming there is no difference between ANY game. Id rather see them show love to their game and develop it as a lifetime goal, since it already gives them money to live.

Its criminal not legally but morally for people to scam other people. Expansions in SOME instances are scams.

Understand they make a GOOD living and arent starving people. Thats drama quenn stuff.

Which leads to an entirely new rant about how people make livings in the first place. I mean what is there? Community services and entertainment. So yeah the whole money economic system sucks. Artists have to make a living but realistically is their a buisness in it? Its a cruel world and I dont like alot of it. I think everyone should get money but only get MORE money if you do something in life.

In an MMO world your monthly subscription pays for their living costs.

You people seem to not comprehend that ALL you need to build a computer is 1) a home 2) electricity 3) a computer and 4) a internet connection for communication(optional).

It doesnt cost them HUGE amounts of money to make games. Just their living and electricity etc. You dont need to invest 10000's in computer software. If your smart you license in a good programming IDE and maybe some 3d modeling software. All in all youve spent about 1500$ on a computer and 3500$ on software licenses. Not a huge investment.

Once youve built one game you ahve everything you need to improve or build a new one. Nothing new that needs to happen.

And spare me all this well I license 1000000 animation software blah blah bc I would call you a fool. mostly game companies say this so you dont know just how cheap it is to make computer software.

Generally if you dont really know much about something you shouldnt argue it.
