You need a new CPU, new m/b, new RAM and most likely a new gfx card to run this game smoothly. The system specs are alot higher than it says on the box. You're looking at a pretty serious upgrade.

um, I played with a similar system, expect 0.02 fps in battles, get at least 512, or a book to read while you wait for the frames.

if you get at least 512 you wont be lag free, if you get 1 GB youre fine.

it will cost around 600-800 $ for your upgrade to at least 2.6 and 1 gig (included with the motherboard you would need for the upgrade or check the one you currently have and see how high it can handle the processer)

how much does 1 GB cost?

Well, depending upon where you live, you're looking at roughly 1.5 weeks of average wage for this type of upgrade. 2.6GHz 800MHz CPU, i865 chipset motherboard, 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM, 9600XT GFX card, would work well if you go with the P4 solution.

Do what I did. Get a part-time job at wendy's and put up with customer bitching while working at the drive thru window at 11:30pm.

Or don't put up with the customer bitching and see how many fast-food jobs you can get yourself fired from over the summer.

The processor really is not a problem. I use to run PS with a 1.6 Ghz pentium 4. Your major bottlenecks will be the RAM and vid card, depending what kind you have as of now.

You can get a 512 stick for ~$100, or you can get another 256 and dual channel for a total of 512. Optimum memory for PS would be a 1gb. I would suggest getting at least 768mb. If you could afford 2 512 sticks, you'd be in good shape, as long as you have a semi-good vid card.

Assuming you need a new mobo

103 dollers

so your lookin at around 693 Dollers, with the new mobo, and around 590 without, plus tax in both situations.

I would recommend flat-out buying a new computer. I've been looking around and if you want one that's cheap and will work, I'd go for the Dell 4600, simply becasue you can get a 3.0 Ghz proc with 1 gig ram and a 128 card for around $1000. Just what I would do, anyways.

Search around. I was recently able to buy 2 sticks of 512mb Ram at Circuit City on sale for $80 each. Unfortunately my motherboard only accepts up to 512mb. So I'm only able to use one of them until I upgrade the motherboard. 512mb of ram makes the game playable with low video settings. You still get some lag or stutter in large fights, but who doesn't. :)

I have: 512mb ram, 1mhz P3, 32mb Nividia, Windows ME and a good broadband connection. I have no problems playing.

No you can do it yourself. Just open up your machine. release the tabs holding in your old stick of ram and put in the new one. Pretty darn easy. I'm a idiot when it comes to computers and I did it no problem. It's almost self explanatory when you look at it.

BTW. You should first look at the RAM already installed on your machine and get the same type. There's a white lable on the side usually that tells you what it is. I origionally had 2 sticks of PC133 128mb. I now just have 1 stick of PC133 512mb. If you can also find out how much RAM your motherboard will support before you buy. I didn't do that and I baught too much. Oh well, live and learn.
