View Full Version : Combining Servers
For some time now I have had this idea, and I think it has become dearly needed for the following reason(s):
When Planetside was first brought up by the Sony devs it was suppose to be a massive online FPS, massive as in thousands of people. What most people don't know is that each server was to hold upwards of 50,000 people at a time, so it didn't matter what time of day of the week you played because there would always be people on. This was eventually scrapped because there were so many bugs that most of the people who tried it out stopped playing and Planetside gets made fun of and laughed at by every show that has to do with videogames. The most infamous of those being XPlay, who gave PS a 2 out of 5. In the few hours during the school week I have time to play I spend about half of it trying to find a worthwhile battle, and I just don't find them that chaotic when I get to them. I think that once they have the problems with the patches fixed and everything updated they should combine Markov and Emerald into one server so the problem of a deserted continent would go away forever. Please tell me what you think of this idea.

There are raging fights on Emerald pretty much all the time. Sure, it can get quiet, but it's not totally deserted.

We already have too many problems with the first server combine. That's my main beef right now with SOE. Its time to limit 1 empire per server. This will prevent the recurring Empire hopping that is so prevalant in Planetside right now. You people on the other servers have had enough time to figure out which character you want to stick with and which empire. 8 characters / Server is ridiculous, IMO.
Begun, the flame wars have....
But if it was done well, and done so lag was not a problem and had a limit to 3 characters per server would you want it? By the way I'm on Markov and it's deserted most of the time.

probably because you play the wrong hours. emerald gets deserted too at 3 am

what if my dad wants to play on the euro server aswell but he wants to play a different empire, then what. what if i have bad connection issues with the american servers which means i can't play NC or TR enjoyably.
consider those

theyre not going to combine the servers again, there is no reason to
the population cant go much further
your dad can play on a euro server and you can be a different empire, but you cannot have 2 characters of different empire, so if your dad is VS, you can either be TR or NC, but not both. But that means that your dad can only play when you don't play otherwise you need to pay for two accounts.

what if my dad wants to play on the euro server aswell but he wants to play a different empire, then what. what if i have bad connection issues with the american servers which means i can't play NC or TR enjoyably.

By the way I'm on Markov and it's deserted most of the time.
Markov can get very busy during its prime hours. Yu just suck at loggin in at the right times.

:lol: If they did this, I would cancel my account ten times over. I quit because of the last server combine more or less, this would make many more quit as well.
Well sooory, I can't be on during the right times cause I don't get home till 4 o'clock. No need to flame me it was just an idea. (You know though that the servers were suppose to hold 50000 people at a time though.)

lol thats ur problem. i play markov all the time and i never have a problem finding a nice good, big fight.

If we would have prime connections no lag wat so ever and hella good computers and unlimited people to a continent, yeah I guess.

NO. servers are populated enough. there are pop locks all teh time now. doing that would just overcrowd it. there would be lines to use equipment terminals. not only that, but its betteer with 3 servers so you can have characters from 3 empires.
