View Full Version : A question for long-time players

I am a one-time player considering re-subscribing my account. I quit shortly after the release of a patch that disabled my ability to see any text in-game(long-time players should be able to remember when that happened). I noticed a huge drop in players overnight, and even when a patch correcting the problem was released, there still wasn't as many players as there had been. With the release of Core Combat, I wonder if the number of players has increased? Not having alot of people playing the game took the fun out of the game for me-before the patch, I remember getting in 200+ battles every hour or so. After the bad patch, the battles were maybe 30+, and that happened once in a blue moon(in my experience). Honestly, has the number of players increased, or is the game world still sparsely populated? Also, if I were to resubscribe, would I need Core Combat?(I'm considering buying City of Heroes right now-it's either resubscribe or City of Heroes). Thanks for your input.

They merged servers, now you can usually find at least two large scale battles at most hours.

What servers did they merge? All of them, or what?

Markov and Johari merged into just Markov
Emerald and Kondeid merged into Emerald
Werner stayed as it was

Sounds great :D But will I need to buy Core Combat if I resubscribe?

You will not need to buy Core Combat by any means: caverns are not used very often, and the CC equipment is not extraordinary. After a few months, however, you'll probably want to buy Core Combat anyway, so that you can test everything out. And yes, there is always good action, especially if you're on Emerald.

Let's not forget that you can buy Core Combat now for $10.

Bah, infidel Maelstrom! Nah, the Maelstrom's pretty cool. Once my CC copy gets here, I'll probably try it out a bit.

The caves are strategically important...so if you take your game to the next level, you'll want it at some point.
Battles can get huge quick (because of the broadcast gates), but they're not the massive numbers of troops running headlong at each other anymore. You'll not find the same battles that you would have seen in Sept - Oct 2002, but they battles we've got now are better.
