View Full Version : AMS spawn security

What do you guys think about having the ability to lock down your AMS so that only you or members of your squad or platoon or outfit could spawn there?

I know that sounds selfish, but there are times like during special ops where you DO NOT want some random newbie spawning at your AMS and giving its location away.

Most of the time when my AMS gets busted its because some newbie gave its location away, by fleeing into the cloaking bubble, running out of the bubble when its obvious enemy aircraft are overhead, putting spits in a circle around the AMS, or doing other obvious things.

If only people in your group were using it they would know when to attack and when to hold up in the bubble. Waiting a few minutes for everyone to spawn can be critical as it goes a long way to keeping your group together and allowing the enemy force to thin out quite a bit.

What is not always effective is the perpetual trickle of one guy dying, spawning, and rushing back in. Every player not in your group WILL do this and the enemy WILL find your AMS because of it.

Of course any empire mate who shows up can still use your AMS, this would only prevent new spawns.

I think it might be a nice option for AMS drivers to have and Ive been thinking about it for a long time now.

You do bring up an interesting point, and such an option would be very useful indeed. The default, however, should be the standard "everyone aboard" setting. mebbe it could also be adjusted to let not just ur squad or platoon, but ur outfit too.

My only worry would be that every AMS would be set to squad/outfit only. :(

I doubt it. With CR5's constantly demanding AMS placements, this would be no problem at all. However, if you are worried of such a problem, it could be an ability usable only by people of certain CR.

I agree with your ideas BadAsh but just keep it how it is... if you are just now complaining about it, then it's not that big of an issue.

Naw, things can always be tweaked and improved. Just because something has been a minor "problem" for a long time does not mean it should never be addressed.

This game has a BUNCH of those. Little minor things that if done differently could save a lot of headaches...

It's early...bare with me.

That actually sounds like a good idea. I have Ground Support to and people place spitfires around the AMS and then I lose it. I like your idea :p

Why do idiots assume CR = Skill or common sense? Break away from the EQ metrics, its alright.

THIS idea, I like. I agree with Zenora's "default spawn" suggestion. :)

I believe this idea was brought up by the DEVs a while back and they said it would be included in the future. Haven't read up on the new AMS proposals, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see that feature show up when they field it. And no, I don't remember the link, sorry.

The only things changing in 2.7 for the AMS is the removal of the spawn tubes in favour of equipment terminals :)

One more needs to be added. Matrix only. That way if I that lone inf finds your ams I can still spawn there. I doubt a large ammount of the ps community would go out of thier way to spawn at your ams.

Just happend to me today, i had my entire outfit waiting (nonmoving) in an ams bubble so we wouldnt be found by passing mossies and reavers then a newbie spawned and left the ams bubble promptly bringing a reaver and a thresher to our area. :(
