ello there,

I was one of the Beta testers back when, errrr PS was in beta  there were a few reasons why I didn't play after it went live,

Didn't believe it was ready
Very unbalanced
Highest level attainable far too early
was already paying for 3 EQ accounts so couldn't really justify paying for another  online game

Anyway, I'm now able to justify a subscription

BUT

Has PS improved significantly since beta?
If so, in what way?

Cheers.
Robium

Uhm I am not a beta tester, but I play PS, and I think we are talking about different games...

nope, I definately mean Planetside.
I haven't played since it was in Beta last year. Hence my enquiry above. :)

They made xp gain really fast in beta on purpose so that people could level quickly and they could test things. As of now I think it takes about 3 or 4 times the xp to reach br20 then it did in beta. They did fix a lot of bug/lag/memory leak issues and have so far almost balanced the game "excluding MAXes, Vehicles have had an overhual since the rebalance patch such as the MBT having their armors uped big time and speed/accel taken down, the Lightning has a 360 degree turrent now and has about double the armor it had before and 10 kph faster. Three new vehicles added for free plus three added with core combat. If you got a nice computer it is very worthwhile to play.

Also, vehicle certs have been bundled into buy one get all catagories. And you can get the Uni-Max cert which has all three in one.

We could go on and on, so I'll just direct you to my Request Tracker on the OF:

Hope that helps.

The game still sucks ... its all about the zerg. To be honest, I stopped playing about two months ago. In Beta many continents had numerous battles going on. Some were big, some were small and some were medium sized.

Now it is one huge zerg on one continent. When that battle is concluded the battles are over. It is not nearly as enjoyable as it used to be. The boredom also hits because it is the same shit night after night after night. The continents all are basically the same and the lag issues were a big problem - but it appears that they are being fixed.

Uhm... I like the zerg... if I am in and its not the nme zerg :)

I was a beta tester back in the day and just yesterday bought ps. There may not be as many of those major battles like the last few days of beta. But you wont spend your time running looking for a fight. The first 40 mins. that I played I had reached a battle rank of four after defending a base then countering.

I feel Planetside is more refined than it was in beta. It's not so good right at this minute because the Broadcast Warpgates have just been introduced and the game is quite unstable population and ground control wise.

Heh, I like the BWG's. They eliminate much of the random HARTing, and add fluidity, which I happen to like.

They add way to much fluidity IMO look at how fast one empire can utterly dominate the world and then have its striped away in a matter of hours. i like most of what it is but i think there need to be some limitations to the warps, thougth i relay can't think of what.

Basicaly the only things i see, are huge sweeping victories, liek caping a cont in an hour, or bad defeats. Thoguth there is a samll time in the middle that is great, befer any momentum has been gained either way, and the smart ones win

Do you think it is such a big difference using BWGs than normal WGs?

yeah, hart usage has gone way down (HURRAY, now it just needs its old timer back) and most of the time you can warp anyplace you want, or nearly any place. Ther is also a flip side though, when you startlosing a few to many conts yo can't warp anyware and can only hart, thus happering your abbility to make a good attack/break out of defeat

Uhm I have to say that I often take my harasser to get to the action with BWGs instead of harting. I really liked it. But I wouldn't complain if they take the BWGs away...

BWGs make it not as fun to travel anymore, easier, but not as fun.

As for the game as itself. Besides the fact that everyone got to play free in beta, its improved alot. Bugs are about nothing now, it just needs to be balanced in a few places. Other than that, patches are strictly for upgrades.
