View Full Version : WTF Pulsar?

Ok i just have to ask why the pulsar does more damage than the guass has a higher refire and a bigger clip?

Thats not right. It doens't go along with the way the empires are suposed to be balanced.

You see the Damage degradation of the guass starts mediumish(10 shot kill on agile) and has a gently slpoing line untill it hits it's max range.

the Pulsar Starts at a Decently higher damage (under 10 shot kill 7 ish i think on a agile) then the degradation slope goes at a slightly steeper slope so it crosses the gauss something like 20m away from their max ranges.

Now i think the starting damaages shoudl be switched around, the guass would get to keep the slope it has now and the Pulsar woudl get a slope slightly less than its current one. so they still crossed over each other. then becasue this woudl buff those two quite decently the cyclers could get an additional 5 points of damage.

Now the MA buff would do two things, make current MA users happier/keep them form thinking that need HA to compete. and perhaps make some HA users trade in thier Certs for things more usefull, like Support/vech certs

I think the pulsar has worse accuracy overall than the gauss (and the damage degredation is nasty, dunno the numbers but it definatly feels that way). But I do agree the NC should have a more powerful rifle at the expense of lower RoF/accuracy.

It has a much slower expanding COFm thogut the initial is the same, after 3 guass rounds its starts expanding and within roughly 4 more its all the way expanded. The pulsar while not as good as the cycler is better at controling the COF.

i love the gauss now.

Indeed, the Pulsar has seemed quite powerful of late. Most notably, I have seen small camps of Pulsarmen on hills warding off more than a hundred of us Terrans. But maybe we just suck

I would much rather play against 12 pulsars than 5 guys with lashers

I dont really have a problem with it. I just own them with my jackhammer. :D

and if they're far away, Ill just own em with my gauss rifle.

Gauss is uber. I can't kill anything with the Cycler.

really? i really like it, its great for short to medium range, just open up, and don't stop until they are dead. I like the fact that it has alot of ammo. Admittedly its not that great at long ranges, but it has so much ammo to spare is one of its great points.

yeah, its nearly as good as some HA up close

I have found that in practice, the pulsar has a massive killzone up to medium range. What I mean is, it feels like it has very little damage degradation up to medium range. This with fairly little cof bloom cna be deadly. I know I do well with pulsar when I get my hands on one. My markov vs got br12 in no time flat with pular rexo.

Gauss seems to feel like pulsar with regard ot its killzone, but what bugs me is I used to love the cycler, but now I cannot stand it. Cycler is weaker per shot and I cannot stand the feeling that I am shooting BBs. Personal choice, I would take pulsar over gauss over cycler, however in general they are balenced.

Pulsar does 20 damage up to 25m. Guass does 20 up to 10m. GG stealth buffs.

i have also noticed that the pulsar seems to be a bit more hard hitting than i'd ever noticed. Plus, i've noticed it more in VS inventory when i start my salvage runs. A few weeks ago i'd never have seen a pulsar in VS inventory. Now, i see 'em all the time. Hell, i think i've come across more pulsars than lashers lately. Well, that's pushing it, but yeah.. I think pulsar does have a bit more power. IN my opinion, i prefer fighting it over the Lasher though. The Lasher is a bit ridiculous. But, i don't bitch, i just own 'em with my Gauss. :D :D :D :D

Omg A Weaponz Keeeled Me It Does Exactly .0001 More Than Mine And Has 10 More Shots, I Must Have Perfect Balance So It's A Super Duper Fair Fight Because If It Wasn't What Would Be Intraesting About Dis Game?!

I think the gauss has better CoF properties still.

I still haven't lost to a Pulsar user 1v1 yet as a TR or NC. Maybe they just need more practice! MA is a new concept to the VS!

i don't lose to the pulsar either and it's cuz the CoF is shittola.. you can't fire more than two shots without the beams going all over hell.. problem is the do a shitload of damage with each shot

wts.

My thoughts exactly.

Everyone is suppose to use MA, i would find it absolutely rediculous if i saw an army all loaded up with say, a machinegun for each soldier.
But i won't blink an eye if i see them all with automatic rifles.

MA is suppose to be the standard firearm, I don't understand how you can find it surprising that people are using MA the way they are suppose to.

I don't know what our Vanu counterparts do on Markov and that other server, but on Werner we are more sensible, so you won't see a field of Vanu armed only with Lashers....

Hehe.

Sarcasm is one of those great things that you can use in a really bad situation as well as good.
On the surface, it seems like an innocent remark even praising or happy, but if you look at it from a different angle it's actually an insult. It's a wonderful thing.
I bet sarcasm was invented here because someone got sick of all the invasion we got, and made the first sarcastic remark to a Viking/Roman/Saxon and didn't get cut up because they didn't understand it, but all his friends did and they all got a good laugh.
