Hey guys, I just found out my exact video card specs, and I want to know whether it's good, or if I need an upgrade. As the title might hint, it's an ASUS V9250, which supports the GeForce 5200 system. Is it any good (it's 128 MB)?

Suck. It has far more VRAM than it could ever hope to use. Upgrade to something more robust (with the 6000 series coming out now, finding a good deal on a 5700-based card or 5900-based card should not be hard. Wait a few weeks and the deals will start popping up. ;) )

If you're wondering what the problem is, it's raw processing power. That really isn't too much more than a GeForce 2 series card with Pixel Shader 2.0 tacked on for good measure.

Yeah the GPU is teh suck.

the amoutn of vrams should be a vidcard buyers last consideration. a 128mb 9600xt would beat a 5gig 9200pro in everything.

the 5200 is as lise said(back i see) basicaly a crapy old card that got an overhaul but still sucked.

With the next gen cards coming out i would look into a new one of the 5700Ultra or 9600XT cores, if you got the Money the 6800GT or the midrange version of the X800,

Hmm, gotcha': I'll probably be looking for a new card, then. Anyone got a quick recommendation for a <$150 one?

As I said, I'd wait for a month or two. Prices should drop significantly; if you're willing to shell out another $50-100, you could easily get a GeForce 5950 or Radeon 9800 PRO.

problem is you can always wait, and prices will drop, wait more, prices will drop, etc, until the card is an obsolete piece of junk. But with the next generation of GeForces (6000 series) coming out as well as the new ATI "X" series, and PCI-Express, prices are sure to drop on mid-range cards somewhat more quickly than usual.
