I just had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out about four hours ago, and I'm pretty bored because all I can really do is watch TV (I can't talk on account of the gauze in my mouth).

Have any of you guys had yours out? How long did it take you to recover? Any crazy stories about how they had to chisel your bone out to get the tooth loose?

Thankfully mine was really simple - all my teeth came in straight and three of the four had broken through my gums, so all the dentist had to do was yank them out.

Let's hear your war stories!

Mine are coming in really nice but crooked, so they're crowding my back teeth a bit. I'll probably just end up with a retainer for them and keep 'em.

Got em removed. Felt slightly tired, had girlfriend over, she comforted me and played with the section of my chin that I couldnt feel.

My friend had a bad reaction to the Anesthesia and tripped the shit out. Hullucinations and everything.

They put me totally out to yank mine. I don't remember comming to, but apparently I looted the recovery room. The next day I found a ton of medical shit stuffed in my coat pockets. :D

I had mine out, and was playing paintball 4 hours later. It's not bad at all, I didn't even need ibuprofen after it was done.

they had to break mine into bunchs of little shards and then pull them out. Somtimes even almost a year later I feel sharp things poking me in my mouth and I reach in and its a left over shard from my wisdom teath sticking out. Then I pull it out and I bleed a lot, it sucks.

That reminds me of a guy I work with. He was in a car accident like 3 years ago, and still picks glass out of his back, and head occasionally. Phr34ky.

I have no wisdom teeth. Dentist took an X-Ray and they just aren't there.

I've also had 4 teeth that grew in 3 times instead of just 2. Hehe, i'm all mutated and stuff. :D

All four of mine were impacted. They opened my gums up and broke them. I wasn't in pain for the first three days. After that, though, my jaw throbbed.

My teeth are big, and my mouth is small. In order to get my teeth straight they had to yank out like 5 or 6 of my teeth already. Wisdom arnt even in yet.

Nitrious Oxide is trippy.

My wisdom were full grown about 2-3 years ago, I'm 15 now. They're not bothering me, except I think they caused pain last week.

Year n 1/2 ago I had the right half of my jaw removed and replaced with a titanium bar. so while they were in there they removed all four of my wisdom teeth as well. kill 2 birds with one stone if you will. needless to say I was recovering more from the jaw thing to even notice the wisdom teeth thing :) as a matter of fact I might go back this summer for more surgery so they can replace the titanium bar with a cadaver jaw.

hah, wisdom teeth got nothin on me :p :D

I feel so cheated - my only pain and inconvenience is that I can't really eat solid food (though if I cut steak into tiny, tiny pieces and chew it with my front teeth, I can get away with it). The vicodin's making me a little nauseous but I'm not swollen and thank GOD I'm not aching... I'm just hoping that the pain isn't waiting around some dark little corner waiting to rear it's little head!

Mine all came last year, two on my right side came out without a single thought. no pain whatsoever.
But the one on the left on the lower jaw started to push and it was so painful, even moving my mouth was painful. i had it cleaned up, and told if i got anymore pain i had to get it removed.
But it got better, i just religiously brushed that part of the jaw alittle longer. Chewed food all on the right side. Now its almost completely out and no pain whatsoever!

Looks like i get to keep my superior wishdom unlike some people who has to have it yanked out and be discarded. :p

I'm nearly 23, mine haven't really come in, only one of them has even broken through my gums, and even then it's only partially come through. It's been like this for years, and none of the docs see any problems with it, so I'm just planning on leaving them be as long as they cause me no pain or problems.

Do they still make you get them out if you get deployed?

ControlledBurn

I doubt it, we get normal dentist checkups and stuff, but I don't see why if they're not causing any trouble that they'd spend the time and money on yanking them out of my jaw.

No apparent problems with them, but the rest of my mouth isn't as good. I've got two retainer systems, one removable and one fixed, after braces.

just so ya know, your teeth arn't conencted to your jaw bone... so they're all still mine :D though they did have to remove the very back molar :( that sucked, but I dont ever notice. though they did have to sever a few nerves so lower part of my face around chin has no feeling. :) they did a good job though, cant ever tell I had the surgery cept for the 3 inch scar on my neck.

Mine are coming in as well. And no, I don't want an oral surgeon hacking and slashing away at my gums. I will only get them pulled if they end up messing up my teeth, otherwise, nobody is touchin them.

Well kids, Day 3 and I still feel only the tiniest bit of soreness. I wouldn't even call it "pain" because pain would imply that it's something other than a sometimes slightly annoying soreness. My stitches feel kind of sweet.

So, fear not young Planetsiders. No swelling, no pain, and I got all four out. Hooray!
