This thing is great. It's easily one of the best mods I've ever seen. It's not even beta. It takes a little bit to get used to the jets, but its great. The damn helo sucks nuts. I couldn't fly that for shit. I'm really impressed.

Yeah a bunch of us have been playing the shit out of this mod. Sure brings new life to BF1942. All in all it's pretty well balanced too. My only issue would be that the engineer machine guns are insanely accurate for an automatic machine gun. Lay down with the thing and you can snipe in short burts from extremely long distances.
And I'm with you on the helicopters. I've yet to master the damn things..lol

Sorry for bumping my own thread. Does anyone know what the plans are for this mod? New weapons, vehicles, maps? Hell I'm not gonna buy RtR if they update this soon.

The mod is definitely cool, too bad the netcode still sucks despite what anyone says.

I've been messin around with it offline, BF1942 rarely runs well online for me. I love the Apache, its the angel of death if you ask me and once you get the hang of it fairly easy to fly, all you need to worry about are MIGs and flak cannons/vehicles, small arms are worthless. I'll probably play it online with some other CDLs at some point. (my dad is a helo pilot and i've been able to fly in the massive 20,000 dollar sims with the hydrolics and the like, so i may have had an unfair advantage learning to fly the apache.)

Don't get to cocky, them migs are gonne shoot you down real fast, not to mention shilkas, the PKMs, and the RPGs.

Yeah, the Migs are your biggest worry, if one of them gets a good run on you, your pretty much dead. Shilkas can be very dangerous to, but if you stay low enough you should be able to get a volley off at them before they do to much damage. PKMs, i didn't realize how much damage those did until i tried one out a few seconds ago, a group with a few of those could pose serious problems, RPGs could cause problems as well, but if your moving fast enough and your nose gunner knows who to shoot first you should be able to avoid the full force of the attack. I'd say the three most important things are moving low and fast, having a skilled nose gunner, and making sure the F-16s protect you from migs. Keeping the glass away from the enemy is kind of a given to. damnit the more i think about this the more i want to play vs. something other then bots, tommorow i'm gonna try my hand online, i just hope the damn thing lets me talk in real time, chat lag sucks (everything works fine, cept all the chat messages come at one minute or so intervals, makes effective teamplay sorta impossible)

Only thing I despise about Desert Combat is the engineer class gets a SAW gun with a 200 round clip. What's the point on using the assault class now? I also find the sniper rifles very inaccurate. I was playing against the bots one day and took me about 5 shots in the head to kill one of the bots.
BTW, the 1.3 version has a built in "wall hack". Not technically a wall hack but there is now a command in console that you can type in that lets you see friendly and enemy units on your screen even if they're behind a building, wall, hill, etc.

they are working on a fix for that little wallhack mistake right now
