View Full Version : I think... yeah... I think God just smited me...

As some of you know and others I'm sure don't care, I promised myself to take a break from entertainment technology for a while. Well, I thought I would break suit for an hour and get on my computer and check in and let you guys know how that is going, and see how PSU holds up without me.... It did not go as planned...

Let me set the scene: It is raining cats and dogs and crazy freakin lightning all over the place, but stupid me is getting on the computer. I go to PSU, type in my login information, hit the login in button and:
BOOM!

Lightning stuck my house right near my window!!!

That was the craziest thing I have ver seen in my entire life! My house is made entirely of wood (up to and includiong the foundation) but no fire was started, which is good cause if it would have caught fire, the whole house would have gone up in minutes. That is seriously one of the most memerorable events in my life so far!

Now for the bad news:

My computer? Fried.
My monitor? Fried.
My TV? Fried.
Me Soround Sound system? Fried.
My Playstation 2? Fried.

Wow, guess I should have held more true to my promise, seeing as how I am now screwed over to the tune of a couple of thousand dollars or so. :ugh:

Oh well, I am not using that stuff anymore anyways (cept to check in with you guys every once and a while, which I will never do again unless there is no clouds in the sky).

Now I better be going before God strike me down with a plauge of loucusts or something...

PS: In case you are wondering, I am using my Moms laptop to post this

/me huggles his Uninteruptable Power Supply

You should get a UPS or 2 Bob. They will stop a direct lightning hit, and many of them come with several thousand dollars worth of insurance for anything that's plugged into them.

That blows. Well, if it makes you feel any better, wouldn't have mattered if you were on the comp or not, if it was plugged into the wall it would be fried anyway.

Definately blows...I'd be pissed if it was my stuff.

wow, it must be nice to actually be free of all that stuff though. I try and cut back on my electronics usage, which I have by becoming way too active in school stuff to the point where I get home at 7 most nights. Sometimes when I get really bored I revert to my old habits of zoning on a computer game for 2-3 hours but think of it this way. You don't have that option anymore which will probauly lead to you finding something you really like to do. That must be pretty annoying though that you lost a couple G's worth of stuff.

On a more religous note, man that is such a messed up coincidence. I mean thats up there with the guy who got attacked by a shark and when asked if he'd swim again he said of course, its like getting struct by lightening twice. He died a couple months later when he was struct with lightening... twice.

Alright, I spent the hours following my first post, up until now feeling jittery like hell and vomitting... Seem to be doing better now, but man I felt weird there for a while (and no, its not just nerves, cause I wasn't really that freaked out by it, just kinda pissed that it took all my stuff with it) Guess it fried more then my computer. Other then that I'm fine. My monitor came back from the dead, so thats a plus, but everything else is still sent pacling...

Yeah, it really has been great. It frees up time for me to work out, read more then I used to, and even come up with some pretty decent tunes on my git'fiddle (guitar, for the redneck challenged...)
I also find that I am able to just generally think and create better now that I have more time to think since less of it is taken up with video games and the like. Even came up with a scheme to make a copy of my schools master keys. I figure I can get into all kinds of trouble with those. :)

Well, anywho, I will probably check in on this post a couple more times before I am off to my thoughts and books for a while longer. Nice to see you all again!

Damn! Thats crazy man! Sorry you lost all your stuff though... then again, it surely helps you in your goal to become less tech-dependent. If it was me, I would be crying like a baby.
