I am starting looking for a part time job in my local area. I have filled out two application forms, I got no word back from the first one (yes, I did phone then and ask did they get it, they said yes, then I phoned up again 1 week later asking my I had no conformation of a job or not, they said that they will contact me shortly, that was 3 weeks ago so its a NO then)
And the second job application, my friend and I went in personally and gave ours in, and he got called 1 day later asking when was a good time for a interview, but I have had no phone call (He put down basic stuff for his application form, but I put a lot of info on mine to make me look good)
I am going to personally go up to the manager of the second job and ask "for future reference, what was wrong with my application"
So, what I am asking is there any good tips for making my job application form look better than the rest?

Don't lie unless you can't prove it's not a lie.
Don't make spelling mistakes.
Having a good behaviour record in school helps.

If you live near a Connexions centre, go there, they can help you out alot :)
Edit - Wait, I thought you were hezzy.... so if you live in the UK, take my advice, otherwise... I dunno...

if you can back up a lie, then do it. I got a higher starting pay at my job because I told them I had previous experience. :D oma 1 employer 0 ;)
its not really a lie. its more embellishing than anything else. you gotta make yourself look good, but not cocky.
And don't use "l33t" anywhere on your app, ie "I'm teh m0st l33t 4 teh j0b!!1"

Bastards. McDonalds said they needed people, I signed up, the damn manager said "come back tommorow around this time, we'll sit down and have an interview"
Tommorow comes, and the BASTARD WASNT THERE!
The manger on duty didnt have time to interview me. "Oh, we will call you"
No calls. Stupid. Fucking. Bastards.

That defeats the purpose of getting a job though. I say, just make yourself look qualified and presentable. When coming into a store, never have a resume in your hand either, keep it concealed until you need to give it to them. Lastly, apply at alot of places. People only get calls from a small fraction of places they drop a resume off at.

I hate my job. I stock lumber in a home improvement warehouse. I work around stupid people, and have a stupid boss who does things like mail me letters that say "Sorry, you won't be recieving your paycheck until the next 2-week period, I will be on vacation." He just cut my pay too, now I only make $107 a week. That doesnt go far when I'm paying for my car loan and gas is $2.05 per gallon. :(
I REALLY want a job in a computer field but the response is always the same "we need someone with previous experience". WELL HOW IN HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO GET SOME EXPERIENCE IF NOBODY WILL HIRE ME?!
::/me sighs:: ah well... I guess the job search continues.
