View Full Version : The new James Bond

In case you haven't heard, there's been a lot of gossip about Pierce Bronson and his fate as James Bond. He slammed his producer in public for delaying the next Bond, which put his job in Jepordy. However, just today a story came out that Bronson will remain as Bond, at least for one more movie. Whether or not this is true has yet to be seen.

Anyway, the point of this post is this: Eventually, Bronson is going to have to step down from being Bond, whether it's for the next movie or one in the distant future. A number of potential Jame Bonds have been named (see the partial list above). So who do you think should be the eventual replacement of Bronson?

Clive Owen gets my vote. If you don't know who he is, he's most famous for being the driver in BMW's short films (http://www.bmwfilms.com). He was also the awesome sniper in "The Bourne Identity." But if I had to, I'd settle for anyone as long as it wasn't Orlando Bloom. Gawd, that would suck.

Clive Owen has my vote currently too, no other good UK actors out there I've seen yet that I could see pulling off the calm, cool, collected role of James Bond so far.

Well, Sean Bean was already in a goldeneye if I recall correctly, so he should be out of the picture. My vote goes to either Clive Owen, or Jude Law.

However, I would like to see a new arch-villain, along with a new bond. Sort of Like Blofeld was when Sean Connery was bond. For that role I nominate Sean Cullen. I would love to see him perform his "food of your choice" song in an actual bond movie. If you dont know what I am talking about, go look for the song on a certain peer to peer network that shall remain nameless.

The whole Bond franchise just needs to quietly die. It's 109 years old. It's had a long happy life. It's time to go. There hasn't been a good one since Moonraker.

:tear: Me too. Pierce has done a wonderful job as Bond. But it looks like he'll be around for one more go.

To me, Peirce was bond. He was the bond of my generation. It will be sad to see him go.

Also, the whole "Bond Girl" concept would go to shit with um, a female Bond. :p

I thought Pierce Brosnan would make a perfect Bond long before he was ever Bond.

I found it interesting that:
The reason he didn't play Bond until Golden Eye was because there was a clause in his Remington Steele contract that stated he could not play James Bond until certain amount of time had passed after the Remington Steele series was finished.

Jude Law, hands down. Ewan MacGregor did a brief, good Sean Connery impersonation in Trainspotting, so I'd give him second choice simply for that.

Timothy Dalton was the best Bond. :D

Bond...James Bond.

Triggar

Yeah anyone who say "Troy" will veto the idea of Bloom being Bond - the wimp had to have his brother kill Menelaus while he crawled on the ground.

Also, everytime in that movie where I saw him shoot an arrow, I couldn't get "LEGOLAS!" out of my head.

So yeah, Bloom = Bad idea for Bond.

Bloom is a good actor, but he's no bond.

Jackman.

Hugh Jackman is an Ok Choice. Jude Law, IMO would make a better bond enemy at the gates (Russian Sniper) and Cold Mountain, among other movies.

The only way it would be good is as a spoof, no one could ever take Will Ferrell seriously in a movie.

Remove the Sean Connery embryos from cryogenic freezing, bring him back, get one of those **** to play James Bond for a decade or two, then cast Sean Connery.

while that lineup is a bad lineup to pick for james bond

i had to pick orlando bloom, first of all hes not that bad at all the stunts, and some people on that list wouldnt do very good in the stunts, plus all the ladies love orlando bloom, and james bond is a ladies man so he fit best on that list

i didnt want to pick other because theres alot of people better than orland bloom that would fit james bond well

Brosnan is my favourite Bond and will take someone special to replace him.

My opinions on the choices:

Hugh Jackman: I wouldn't mind Hugh Jackman, seems a decent actor and I think he may have the je ne sais quot that makes or breaks a Bond.
Jude Law: No. Lacks the swarve and sophisticated. Romantic yes, Bond no.
Orlando Bloom: Just, No. Great elf, pants Bond.
Clive Owen: My first choice from the list. Great actor.
Sean Bean: I'm a big fan of Sean Bean, but I don't think he would fit Bond... maybe a former comrade like 006 or something perhaps ;)
Colin Firth: Please... he doesn't even look like a potential Bond.
Ewan McGregor: Don't make me laugh. I know he's been tipped as the next bond but I just can't take him seriously enough to be James Bond.
