Do we know yet if Towers have an SOI, or can you drop right on top of them?

Sphere of Influence is the area around a base where defenders can place turrets and nobody can Drop in via HART.

I hope they don't have an SOI. it makes it more realistic if you can drop righti n

I hope Tower do have SOI. Would suck if your deffending a Tower, and a squad of MAX's drop in...

I dont think they do.
It'd be nice if they had a small SOI. They are there for defense and it'd be pretty dumb to allow someone to drop off on your doorstep. Takes away the whole idea of the tower being able to see people incoming from a distance to aid in defense.

to make the game more realistic they should not have an SOI because in real ife there is no such thing has an SOI and people can drop right into a base. a bases defense should not exceed defensive walls. if they don't have SOI, yes it will make it harder but also it will make it better. the only way i can have fun and probably most other people is to make it a challenge.

also you can only deploy turrets withen your SOI, and possiably mines as well.

Gameplay always takes precidence over realism. SOI is vital for base defense and should not be eliminated. However, I personally hope that if towers do have SOI, it is very small.

SmokeJumper stated (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=35782#post35782) that one of his characters is a stealth hacker/saboteur that carries ACEs and he lays mines in annoying places and blows stuff up. He's probably talking about boomers there.

Can't you drop inside a SOI "owned" by your own faction?

I think an SOI on a tower is a bad idea, a tower is probably no more than an outpost style base, and in real life they get over run pretty quick by determined assaults. They can be early warning sites, and can slow up an enemy attack, but they shouldnt be able to hold out against large attacks. Also dropping straight on a tower is like SOP for most modern military's that is if your using airborne units.
Yes, they should be able to be overrun quickly, BUT, I don't think you should be able to drop right on the doorstep. That nullifies everything that the tower is made for. Might as well just have guys standing around various places in the map.
