Almost bit it....

Enter Peace on a cold rainy day in NYC. I jump on the highway in my car tailing my friends. They are about 500 feet up the road when a semi truck cuts me off. The truck throws up an incredible splash and I cant see. I get out from behind the truck to see a traffic jam two hundred feet up the road. I hit the breaks but my car is hydroplaning. I smack into my friends car at 35mph. The air bag deploys and sends my left fist into the glass spiderwebing it. The car does a flip off the back of his car and lands on the roof knocking me unconsiouce. The car catches fire and my friends drag me to safty. A box of .22 calibure amunition cooks off a few seconds later. I am taken to the ER. After a few hours they released me with the option to stay the night or go home. I went home.

Injury Report-

Fractured Skull
Broken left arm
Broken left hand
Two Fractured ribs
Major Laceration on left arm
Minor lacerations on both arms, legs, neck
Burns across arms, legs, neck

I am alive because I had my seatbelt on. I am hurt because my airbag went off.... Wtf? The airbag did more damage than it prevented.

My arms are all bandaged up and burn like mad. The explosive in the airbags covered any skin exposed. Luckily my face didnt get it.

There was nothing terrifying about it. I am just really fucking pissed off about the airbag, the fact that my car is gone (I loved that car), and I have to worry about funds for the future. I need money for a car so I can go to work. I also need to pay for school. This is gonna be a rough summer.

And the fact that all my hard work with a girl from work is prolly about to go down the shitter because the only time I had with her was riding her home after work. Which always took a really long time considering she could walk home.

About that airbag - it may've caused some minor burns and hurt you a little bit, but I guarantee that if that hadn'tve fired, there is a 95% chance you would've died.

You definatly wouldn't be released from the ER by a sane doctor after a couple of hours with those injuries, especially not with cuts, burns, fractures, and a head injury.

I've already had too many scares this week (sisters father-in-law, who sort of replaced our father who passed away 2 years ago died of cancer and my godson back in Wisconsin had to be admitted to the University Hospital because he had a very bad allergic reaction causing extreme athsma and also had a severe cold) and to see your post...well, I don't think I can handle one more scare the rest of the year.

glad your ok. car accidents suck. having my fair share of em already i know. specially about that airbag part. like for example when i was riding in a car when it hit a combine (yes a fucking combine) seatbelt stopped me only to have the airbag go off in my face breaking my glasses busting up my face and slightly burn me. personally i hate em. I love seatbelts but airbages are hte devil.

An ignorant post prehaps. But for me to feel high and mighty, no that's silly, I have no personal motives behind my replys to annonomus strangers on the internet. The hospital didnt let me "go". I sorta escaped after 5 hours.... I hate hospitals.... alot.

BTW when I said it was raining I mean it was a down pour. I couldnt see anything infront of me. Tires can and will hydro at a speed as low as 30mph. Cars can and will flip at that kind of speed, esp a very light car like mine (a corolla), ammo does cook off in a fire. I ask you zodiac have you ever been in an accident before? A serious one such as this that is.

P.S. Strygun, the Airbag did not come into anycontact with my torso or my face, only my arms and the powder covered my body from the blast. Had my airbag not deployed I would be in much better condition.

P.S.S. Thanks for the back up Sentrosi, but no worries I am ok. The worst thing is the whole skull thing which is an inch long crack and a little gash on the very top of my head.

but yeah, airbags...seriously...I think hurt more people than they save, I lost a friend once when I was like 11, his mom was driving with him in the passanger seat, bam, rear ends another car at about 25 mph, nothing huge, but the airbag deployed and broke my friends neck, dead at 11 because of an "life saving device"
