why do u hate tribes 2?

I was playing tribes two and I realized how much I hate it. The only strategy is to jump then jetpack into the air and time a shot with the spin fusor when the other guy lands thats trying to do the same thing. Heavy armor can't do anything in that game unless your shooting down a vehicle but then the guy comes with his spin fusor jumps and shoots u.

In capture the flag no one goes for the flag everyone just attacks the bases its kind of weird.

I have never seen more agressive people in my life I just wanted to see how far I could get a heavy armor away from the flag I got him to a few thousand then I got bored and killed him (not jumping style)

No worrys sputty, jumping will lower your stamina making you less accurate, slower, and eventually unable to jump until it regenerates.

You act like the guy in the air is invincible.

Let me tell you, there's nothing like a mid air disc to bring someone down. Pull out the chain gun and shred him. Sitting on the ground is the quickest way to be killed. You have to manage your jets and use your weapons to gain an advantage.

The tribes games take a tremendous amount of skill to be successfull. It's not a twitch game like most other fps.

In tribes 2 there was a mod with a suit called "Raven" it was lightly armored, but was fast and had a huge ammount of energy that regened fast, the effect was unlimited flight time, if you managed your energy right, I used it alot when i played.

The only mod you should ever play is Classic. If you want the true tribes experience. Officially sanctioned (and even funded) by Sierra.

I bought tribes 2 a couple weeks ago ,it was only $10 at EB so I figured couldnt go wrong for $10 , well the game does blow ,If it wasnt for the War2003 mod I would have returned it ,but for now its ok once in a while

It's pretty cool. It mixes Tribes with it's parent line of games Earthsiege/Starsiege. Basically it puts Mechwarrior type mechs into the combat.

for those who don't know the history of Tribes. There was the mech series of games (Earthsiege, Earthsiege 2, Starsiege). The starsiege engine spawned Tribes as a human/armor based warfare in the Starsiege universe.

Mechina unites the two together. It's pretty cool.

When T1 first came out, maps were huge and vehicles were used, then people learned to ski and mine disk and similar crap and maps became small and vehicles became useless. Obviously this is not what the devs wanted and they changed that for T2, and a lot of what is in T2 is what the community asked for while they were playing T1.

I remember when I was at the Atlanta LAN party and we were playing T2. We were on some map that had lava between the bases. Jobie grabbed my teams flag and got all the way to his base. He hoped on the platform and right before he got to the flagstand I sniped his ass. His dead ass threw the flag right into the lava.

Half the T1 devs weren't a part of the T2 team.

Here's the problem. Tribes 1 matured and the gameplay changed with time. This is how Tribes 1 was identified. So when making a sequel why undo all the maturation that's taken place over 3 years and take away the aspects of the game that the hardcore people love, which keeps them hooked, which made the sequel possible in the first place?

Doesn't make much sense to me. That's where base++ and later Classic, which is officially sanctioned by sierra came from. That's why the base competition nearly disapeared with the introduction of classic. That's why so much of this community you speak of started out from day to change Tribes 2.

I don't think the T1 community ever asked for more powerfull, more accurate, and more numerous turrets. They didn't ask to make the elf a weapon that could suffocate all offense. They didn't ask for vehicles to dominiate the game. They wanted a game they were familiar with some more depth and some prettier graphics.

I haven't been able to play anything but t2 since it came out.. every other game i've played lacks the depth of tribes IMO. Base was outrageously boring to me, so I spent most of my time in Renegades (no flames plz) when it finally came out, because of the speed and sheer amount of different roles available. Although, I have been playing classic on and off since the new patch because I'm addicted to the speed.

So then I got pissed put on scout and and energy pack killed this one guy 4 times in a row but he just kept rushing and rushing and then he got half the enemy team on me obivously I die and he starts using Is that the best u can do sound thing

Seriously dont diss T2 cause your an idiot. If you know what your doing and take learning skills seriously it is a highly enjoyable fast paced game. Ive played it since it came out and i havent gotten bored yet.

I loved both games as soon as I pulled them out of the box.

In T2 I used to love piling into a transport with a bunch of other guys and not knowing what would happen, now it's all just ski ski ski, it's still fun, but it doesn't really feel like you're working as a team anymore in classic, everyone just speeds off doing their own thing.

ive been a t2 nut playing ever since it came out (i was a t1 renegades nut too). i played base until ren came out for t2 and have been playing ever since. this is probably bc i cant find a game yet that can beat the vast amount of strategy and skill involved. i mean... what kinda strategy is there in games like CS? u go that way, ill go this way, ill shoot this one guy... I did red the readme and all it said was to unzip it into the Machina file or whatever but there isnt one cause I dont have a previous version installed so I downloaded all the originals and they say the same thing :confused:

You got the wrong downloads then. Beta 5 has an installer, kind of hard to mess that up, and beta 6 unzips into the installed directories.

Seems to me that the people saying T2 sucks are the people that didn't spend any time learning the game. Tribes 2 has a large learning curve and to actually be pretty good you need to play it for more than 5 minutes at a time. Playing mods like mechina is ok but it's not going to help you get any better at classic. Classic is actually pretty fun even though it has a few glitches here and there.

As for the game getting boring, sure it's gotten a little boring but it still is a great game. Playing the game in a competative tribe/clan is a great way to get into a game. It gets really intense. Try it before you knock it.

Not to mention cheaters, and those to whom "team" meant nothing - running up the ladder and disbanding at the first loss, reforming and doing it again. When players lost all sense of sportsmanship, many of us lost interest in competitive tribes. It was great fun while it lasted.

Have you even played classic? The heavy is quite a bit faster and the mortar explodes even faster now. It's a threat and long range or close range because of that damn mortar lol. The medium is also pretty effective in capping now because the speed of skiing is upped quite a bit. You can take more damage and still ski almost as fast as a light or maybe faster... I dunno I forget. Medium is still a little less agile than the light and that's why I prefer it but all the armors are pretty useful now.
