Welcome to my world. Haven't played PS for more than 7 months. It just kept crashing. SWG is fun, though.

I t hink in my almost year of playing PS, I hardly EVER CTD'd.
The second I spawn it goes into a sound loop, freezes, and dumps me to desktop. I even tried an old GeForce 5200, with latest drivers - CTD:mad:

Could it be a virtual memory issue or something like that?
Could it be a virtual memory issue or something like that?
I have 1Gb of ram, and I've never had to mess with VM settings before when I played.

Well I'm just wondering why it loads up and then crashes to desktop, and one of the first things that happens once you've entered the world is texture caching as you move around. Hmmm.
Have you tried using Full scan? I know you said you'd reinstalled, but it wouldn't hurt to try that if you haven't already.
its probably something with your vid card. usually when tis your vid card, it crashs/freezes/breaks as soon as you have to render something.

Try switching up your sound driver selection before you go in game. Like in the server selection screen.

BUGGER

After this last patch I've gotten the most bugs all year. I dont crash to the desktop, i crash to the restart button. If it happens, it will usually happen only on one continent.
Really, its been a year now, so for its aniversary they decided to make it beta again.
Otherwise, even with my crappy ass computer that meets all the minimum requirements, I get no bugs whatsoevar.

I think all these bugs people whine about are probably their own fault with a faulty video card driver or something. I have basically no bugs whatsoever.

I don't CTD, but it can play like ass during high-heat battles. Other than turning down graphics or upgrading system specs, what can I do?

well if you bothered to read the lisence agreemnet, you would see that being a rump ranger causes CTD.
after talking to a rep and reading up on the issue I've found its more of a software value fault than anything intentional.

I've CTDed a couple of times whilst loading a continent from the HART shuttle. And once because my PC overheated :)
Apart from that it's stable.

I used to CTD all the time, then I updated my driver's. Now I rarely CTD, and if I do, it's because of my piss poor computer.

only one CTD for me in the past 6 months... Im happy! i got Sunshine!
*UPDATE*
It works now. Still not sure what it was, I changed 3 things and then it worked.
1) In my Device manager my video card was there twice.
SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS - secondary (omega 2.5.44)
SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 ATLANTIS (omega 2.5.44)
I disabled the "secondary"
2) I reset the video card's OpenGL settings to default. I'm not sure how they got changed... I havn't changed anything since my last format about a month ago.
3) I set reserved memory for textures (within PS) to 256Mb.
Fuckit who knows...... anyways, I'm going to go play.:D

Man, this CTding sucks, I CTD about 5 times a day when I play, and my comp completely restarts twice also.
I barly CTD EVAR on the last patch, but since the last one went live, CTDing is the norm for me.
Name Empire Server?
SonicDeathMonkey is NC Emerald, and I have a n00b Terran on Emerald named SDMv2.

I find that the most helpful thing to do is reinstalling the sound drivers, because PS has more sound problems than anything else (at leats for me.) If I have a PS problem, I just reinstall the sound drivers, restart the comp, and it works.
