Well I'v decided i'm going to make the final purchase that this computer will every see besides software. And that is a good high end vidoe card to replace, this poor excuse for a DX 9 card i have right now.

so in about a month or so i will have amased roughly 500 needed for a brand spanking new X800 or 6800, they are both outstanding cards so i don't have a clear cut winnar in my mind. Both will be avalible by the time i have the money so avalibility does not matter.

Now to you guys, whitch one do you think i should get, based on the reviews you've read do you think i should get, bang for the buck can also be considered, and beond that what Manufacturer do you think will be the best to go with?

i say go for x800 pro, you can mod it. i would go for it but i'm not good at that stuff so i am going for an x800 xt.

There should be clearer ideas of which is really better over next few weeks. Both camps are working hard on their drivers atm, neither are really ready.

Did find a link to a deal gateway was running last week, X800 XT's for $439. Confirmed XT's and not Pro's. Was tempted, but waiting for the 423 I think.

x800 PRO seems good bang for buck. Also u will prolly want a vid card maker like ASUS or Sapphire

you know the 423 is just an X800 that uses AGP right?

No, I was under the asumption the 423 is just a 420 that uses pci-express.

Yea, I am kind of going insane at the moment. Picked up a refurbed A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0 and a MSI Neo2 865 board the last few weeks. Looking for a P4-2.8c now and prolly picking up either the 35 watt xp2400 mobile or 45 watt xp2500 mobile to. Both to be extreme OC machines. People are hitting 2.8 on air and 3+ ghz with the mobiles, insane little chips. Got one water cooling kit so far, and deciding if a vapochill is worth the investment now.

Then also planning to do a full pci-express mb and x800 xt 423 on a amd 64/939 setup as soon as a mb that fits those specs is available from abit. I'll prolly switch my nf7-s with the A7N8X and part out my current setup. That'll give me 3 rather fast and insane machines which hopefully will last me for a looooong time.

The X800 has 16pipes as well, you just have to enable them by drawing a line with a silver conductive pen

It doesn't really whoop the 6800, they just chose it mainly because of the fact that the 6800 takes up 2 slots, while the x800 only takes up one. Both are rated at a 9 according to MaxPC.
