You have until midnight tomorrow (Thursday July 15th) to get your $155 in.
There is space available, you have to come or else one more gift box will go to waste!

WHO KNOWS WHAT TODAY IS??
Today is Thursday July 15th, which means that if you are going to PSU:MA, your $155 deposit is due today!
It also means that if you do not pay your deposit today, there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that you'll be able to spend the weekend in Orlando with the rest of the gang.
DOORS CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT (Eastern Daylight Time).
Any last-minute questions/comments/concerns can be emailed to me at

That's it! The doors have officially closed!
The final number for the event is a nice, even 30 people, which was our original goal!
This means we got 20 less than I had secondarily planned for, which doesn't matter as far as finances go. The only thing is, I've already made up 48 gift boxes, which means I have 18 extra, WHICH MEANS...
After the Mobilization, you will have the option of purchasing your very own PSU:MA gift box of Awesome for $20 plus shipping. So you can't be at PSU:MA this year? Get the bag that the attendees will be talking about for at least two hours.
The reason I'm not selling them BEFORE the event is because it is imperitive that the contents of the boxes be secret until the attendees receive theirs. When that happens, I will list the contents of the boxes for all interested in owning a piece of PSU history.
So that's it! All 30 who are onboard, congratulations and thank you! This is going to be a weekend that you won't forget anytime soon!
And for you multitudes who missed out, let's hope Alpha goes well so that you can attend Bravo! If there is Mobilization Bravo, you will have much more advanced notice and will have more time to do some (financial) planning.
Thanks again guys, and I'll continue to keep you posted as things get solidified!

Had to share this ..
My outfit leader asked if there were still openings for PSU:MA .. I told him reg was closed but since I was with the *cough*in crowd*cough* he wanted me to ask.
Poor lad just realized all that is offered for the price .. just have to pony up for the transportation. I did tell him that if this goes well, PSU:MB will be on the west coast and to get in early. :D
I originally planned to get there a couple days early and maybe stay 'til Tuesday, but couldn't justify the added expense of a rental .. seeing as how Triggar has MAXs scheduled for hall monitors. :p
So .. anyone else getting a wee bit antsy for this event? Have we heard anything more on "other" attendees?
Triggar
2004-07-28, 11:10 AM
I can tell you with a straight face that when the "other" attendees are going to tell someone they're coming, they'll make a big deal about it, and you'll know :)
I just sent an email out to the five remaining miscreants who haven't paid their balances, you know who you are (punks). That's got to be in by August 1st or [soup nazi]NO SOUP FOR YOU![/soup nazi].
I'm getting antsy about it - I'm so nervous that I've forgotten about some crucial detail that will leave us all stranded somewhere. I don't think I have, I've made mental dry-runs of the event a few times, but we'll see :)
I also need some suggestions for games/contests that people can win prizes. I have about six kick-ass things to give away, but need a reason to give them. It has to be something that only one person can win at a time. Ideas?
*no getting naked/drunk/etc. I'd like to do something trivia based or merit based.
Strygun
2004-07-28, 12:41 PM
trivia based would rock! I am full of random trivia that no human will ever need to know.
No joke.
Triggar
2004-07-28, 12:58 PM
I was thinking trivia relating to the activities of the weekend, i.e. Disney trivia or something.
But I wanted something with a level playing field, I don't want one person winning more than one prize. Scavenger-hunt type of thing would work, but then there could be more than one winner.
PM or email me ideas at
[email protected].
Ideas for Game-Winning Activities Should:
-not be obscene at all
-make prizes accessable to everyone who's attending
-be relevant to the weekend's activities
-let only one person win each prize
I need six or so ideas. I'm not terribly worried about it, but if it comes down to it, the Event Admin can gather together each night and decide who's displayed exemplary behavior or whatever. The only problem with that is that it's subjective, and I want something more definitive. These prizes are r33t.

So I have some kick-ass news
I just get home from work when I hear a knock on my door. I'm expecting packages so I didn't think much of it, until I saw UPS man holding a package that was one of those poster boxes, the triangles. I was like, "Wtf?". I looked at the return address - and it was from Bawls. Sweet.
I open up the package, and sure enough, I see a rolled-up poster. I go to unravel it, oh wait, it's not a poster, it's

Im going to all of em. :D
I hate you.
I'll reveal why I couldn't go to Mobilization Alpha, right now.
The full story.
I live in Miami. MA was to be held in Orlando. This is the equivalent of an All-You-Can-Eat buffet at the House of Filet Mignion. You just have to go, because it's going to be dirt cheap to get there. I pay no airfare. NO airfare. Whilst some of you will be burning over $500 on this trip, I would pay $360.
Secondly, I've been here since Fall 2002. I've always wanted to see some of you in person (not you SDM).
So...I knew my parents would have a hard as hell time accepting this idea. Who would let a mid-teenager play with a bunch of people he'd never seen before in real life, all away from the safety of the home? I had a hell of a time convincing them. I even resorted to having my mom come along, because they don't believe I have the social skills and all to travel. I'm not embarrassed of having her come along. In the end, I had them. With all their fears alieved (with help from two very special Event Coordinators ;) ), I was set.
But there was one problem. Money wasn't it, school wasn't it (my school fucked me over big time. I would have to go on a school weekend), it was my damn brother.
I have two brethren, and no sisters. I am eldest. My younger brother continually abuses my youngest brother. He is fourteen, the yougest is but ten. It's really sickening. Brothers fighting is one thing, abuse is another. Every day it's something. Every day the abuse from the middle one starts a physical fight. Middle has a problem with all of us. His behavior at school is despicable. He's not maleducated. Both me and my youngest brother have impeccable behavior.
However, Middle is a real jackass. He's a bully at school, and justifies it because "He's not at the bottom of the food chain anymore." It's as if he lakes the rules and then disobeys on purpose. He's done horrible things to us which I will keep private, and even put the entire family at risk once, which puts us at risk of losing everything we own because he lied to a counselor.
He has shown utter contempt for authority, which is evident in the words he has used behind my mom's back to describe her. He basically has a problem with me, my littlest brother, my mom, and my dad, and still thinks he's right.
Now, without me or my mom standing guard (Dad is a surgeon. He works hard and is almost never home during the day during the weekdays. He can't stop working to play UN Peacekeeper.), we don't doubt that serious harm could occur. While there techinically is a way to either separate the two or have my dad at home (by getting another surgeon to cover him for the weekend), I refuse to create a disruption that big because I want to go on a damn trip.
Nothing short of UN NATO peacekeepers will keep them from fighting each other. Unsupervised, the consequences could be serious.
So that's why I can't go, PSU. It's my fucking brother.
I tell you, I was ready. Every problem was solved. My dad was ready to hear the payment info. However...some things just won't happen.
And that's why I won't be able to go to PSU:MB either, unless someone mends his ways. Furthermore, I don't think blowing off $500 just to get there is a possibilty.
PSU: Mob. Delta (The Greeks didn't have anything for "C", did they?) is possible, but by then I'll be 18. That's two years off, and we still haven't even seen if Alpha works. I don't even know if PSU will last that long. Furthemore, that's the year I go off to merry college, and I'll be preparing the entire year.
So...I've lost a golden opportunity.
In compensation (Triggar felt bad for me and all, she's had some of the same problems with her brothers and sisters), the 'object' that she's giving me that we've mentioned is a gift box, and I'll be damned if someone objects to that.

Then move to the next step - Take ALL his shit away, TV, windowshades, bedframe, leave his room with nothing but a mattress on the floor until he cleans up his act, then for every day or few days that he isn't an asshole, he gets something back, and whenever he *is* an asshole, you take something away. It works.

Jackass. My parents aren't some fundamentalist Catholics. They won't object.
The issue here is not that I'm socially dysfunctional and that I can't go without my mom. I'll try to make it to Delta. However, they don't want me to go, and I'm not going to be a dick and complain that I'm being socially repressed or some garbage like that. I accept the advice from my parents that they don't think I'm ready to go alone. Next year maybe, but it's going to cost an arm and a leg.
By the way, I said *nothing* short of UN NATO peacekeepers would stop it. We've taken away the PC, it's done nothing. As I speak, he has had no computer for the entire summer.
(This is because he was an idiot and put it in a boxy section of his desk, which overheated it. The capacitors on the motherboard literally are bulging, the insides having melted.)
My parents have been none too quick to repair this: parts arrived today to build a new one. Obviously, if he behaved well, he'd have gotten one ASAP. However, this has caused a negative change in behavior: He pushes to use my youngest brother's computer, stores his digital photos on my computer, and frequently causes a comotion when my youngest brother wants him off his computer, but Middle won't go.
HIPAA regulations prevent me from telling the damage my brother has done to my youngest brother.

Don't take away some things, take away EVERYTHING, make his room EMPTY, no leaving the house, no talking to friends, no TV, no computer, NOTHING, and he'll break eventually. With a barebones quasi-amish life like that, he probably wouldn't last more than a week.

Befuddled (I hadn't ordered anything), I look inquisitively at the return label and see it's from OH guess who? BAWLS! :groovy:
They have now completed their sponsorship obligations to us and now I just have to ask 6 people to politely decline the free bottle they would otherwise receive (Bawls, as generous as they were, only provided us with 24 free bottles). I concur. From what I understand, cars are supposed to go the the motel...
where we prompley get owned by the staff for soliciting.
I know exactly where the hotel is, I drove around in the parking lot on my way to daytona a few weeks ago

Why would you say something so foolish, my dear?
I will be sending out a mass email to everyone who is attending, give me until later this evening. I'll include contact information and meeting information, and a reminder of what you should pack and what you should expect. I may even release room assignment data, but probably not.
Also, I am still accepting clever ideas on what we can do to give away the 1337 prizes I've bought. We have way more than 6 now (thank you Sony!!), but I was thinking we'll just stick numbers in your gift boxes and raffle them off randomly, with room for one or two "merit" prizes. So behave!!

Great.
Now I want to bring a stick and carry it around.
Wonder how long it'll take airport security to take me down... I'd best not find out!
I'll just go ahead and email you all and let you know what to expect.

Triggar, plz plz plz plz if at all possible release the Room Assignment Data. It would be totally kickass to be able to talk to those people in your room specifically, before the actual event, just to get to know who's who :)

Yeah so it looks like that email I was going to send everyone tonight might have to wait. Turns out this so-called "hurricane" will be blowing right through Daytona Beach, and I have to make bisque and chili to hold the fort over until the skies clear up.
If the power goes out, we've got a UPS supplying power to our units, and I may be able to send out the email then.
If you don't hear from me... well, Squeeky can have the soaked remains of my stereo.

heh. I live in Seminole but I'm in Polk Country with my family right now. We should be getting those 100mph gusts real soon. Lucky us. My mother is freaked out, my father is taking a nap, and my brother is watching Murder She Wrote. I just hope there's an Orlando left after this for the PSUMA.
