...and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch. - Leo Dworken

"Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat." Mark Twain

When I play with my cat, how do I know that she is not passing time with me rather than I with her? -- Montaigne

"I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue.
Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it.
She looks up and gives me her full gaze.
Don't be ridiculous, she purrs, I wrote it.

I'm sorry, OMA. Pets are as good as friends, and it's always sad to hear when one passes on.

so did I... doc told me it was... the minor surgery went fine but when they went to check on her after she wasn't doing well... said they tried all they could but just couldn't save her... he suspects some underlying weakness like heart murmours or something that the surgery or whatever was just to big a shock to her system....

you know, to some it means nothing.. a mere animal...pets and hell even people come and go all the time, but all I know is my house is empty... and it sucks hard. :tear:

Seriously, get a kitten. My GF had to put her cat down, and she was a wreck. So I got her one of these:

(ofcourse I had no idea how absolutly evil and rotten to the core Mabel was when I bought her)

It helped to have a little insano-cat screaming around.

Losing pets is hard, if they not even yours but you've spent a good many years around em it hurts hard when they die..
Was this labrador, Lark, beautiful ole thin, kept sniffing around the table and shoving her nose into people's arms :)
Died on my birthday...

I'd agree with SDM, get a new puppy/kitten. They help :)

I know what it's like to lose pets. I've had one kitten die, and a lot of dogs die. Mostly of old age, no horrible accidents (except for the kitty who got run over). It puts you down for a while.

RIP Kitty.

My condolences OMA.I know your pain,i lost 2 dogs within a week of each other and it was very hard for me.The one dog was really sick and had to be put to sleep and the other died in her cage. She had her leash on in this big metal cage and somehow it got caught and she choked to death.Losing a pet is like losing a friend. There always there for you even when no one else is.

That's the saddest thing I've ever heard! What kind of dog was it?

my parents got a dog a little bit before i was born. I think my dog, Bogey (awesome name) was about a month older.. anyways when i was born my parents always tried to keep my dog away from me because they were affraid he'd hurt me. So, they'd yell at him and blah blah blah so he was affraid to get near me until i was like, six years old. Before that he was always really affraid to approach me. I'd tell him to come and he'd look at me like i was nuts. Finally, he starts to warm up to me by the time i turn six, but he was still cautious around me. i'd say it was about when the two of us were 10 when he started to get to the point where if i was gone for 2 minutes he'd freak out when i came back. He died when i was 13. liver failure. I felt like i'd been robbed of one of the best friends i ever could have had, because i'd only really had him for 3 years.. heh.. just when you start to get really close...

yeah, OMA.. losing pets is probably one of the hardest things ever. Because you can almost NEVER say a truly bad thing about a pet. They'll do anything for you and all they want in return is a little kindness. having a pet really makes you look at people differently...

lots of  OMA!! Be strong! though i detest cats, we all love our pets, and i'm sure your cat was well loved and hope she/he died peacefully without pain.

And to you Firecracker & Oddfish, i've had two previous dogs, the first one got sick and ran off to MIA :tear: , My second one ate something my stupid neighbour left out when it clearly dangerous.

I was in a wreck, i miss them so much. But my current loveable mutt, he's a Great Great grandaddy. :p And his daughter and his Grandaughter stick by him always. He's old now, but he had a good life, I dread to think when he will die, but i know he was happy and i love him. I hope you two find another lovable mutt (mixed breeds are the best :p i say purebreeds are obsolete! )
We all know, Dogs are the best, and i just read that domestic dogs evolved barking as a way to communicate to humans. Now that's love for you.
