Ugh after much studying finals are finally here. Luckily my schedule divides them up perfectly. Some kids have 3 a day I managed to luck out and have one a day and 2 of the easiest ones on the last day.

Wed: Geometry (Man I put in at least 15+ hours, I better get at LEAST a 90 to make up for my slacking second semester)

Thurs: Spanish (Man I'm kind of in the shit hole for this one, I've studied so far about 6 hours for it and defiently need to get in more. I'd be happy to just pass it with a 70, I'm definently going to retake Spanish 3 if I don't do well.)

Fri: Last of the challenging exams, English (Pretty easy, she told us what books were on it but gave us a whopping 100 vocab words, luckily I knew most off the top of my head)

WEEKEND: Brush up for science and History, both by far my best subjects. Science is an Honors Course and I have an average of a 99 right now, this final could fuck up that near perfect grade though. History I have a 95 and luckily the final is just on more modern history. Starts with the Renassiance (thats what I'm gonna have to study I spaced that entire unit) to the cold war.

So to all those that are free already and enjoying your summer, you lucky bastards! To those in the same boat as I am, GOOD LUCK!

If it's any consolation, I failed Meterology and have to take it again over the summer...
...but it's probably for the best, since I missed more days than I went, and pilots kind of need to know a thing or two about weather....

I just started summer school. I'm taking english, it's pretty easy we're reading The Hobbit and it's only 2 hours a day. Reason I'm taking it over summer is because I got lazy during first semester.

had geometry and spanish 3 today...

yesterday was history and english..

i didnt really study for any of them, and it showed as i got an 88 on the history test. hopefully i did better on english because i needed a high score on the final (slacked off during seminars)

spanish wasnt bad and geometry was not hard either.

good luck on them!

There was a bunch of hype about all the classes having Final Exams, but somehow we managed to have only 1.5 of them. One was an actual Algebra Exam, the other was a test of 2 chapters in history.

EDIT:

Lol, algebra was so easy for me this year. I just graduated 7th grade, and will be taking Geometry next year for math pimp:. By the way, the quadratic formula is exactly as follows: Negative b plus or minus the square root of the quantity b squared minus four ac , all divided by two a . Simple, huh?

Im taking my GCSE's at the moment, which, en anglais, are actual qualifications, not just school grades. I have to take 22 - count em - and have 12 left. After this i don't technically ever have to go back to school again, but i am [further education n'all].

Lol. I'll be doing Calculus in 11th grade, and plan to be doing some of the highest level math available in college. What's funny, though, is that I'm not even that amazing at it: I just turn in my work, and do the shit right  .

yea I realized why Algebra was so hard for me was because I didn't do any of my homework because the teacher didn't check it. I just took the tests and got the Low B's and High C's. Then all of a sudden in Geometry my teacher says homework is 20% of your grade. Suddenely I do all the homework, keep a semi well organized note book, and get B's and A's on the tests. I was like WHOA, thats all you have to do. So this year I'm pumped for Honors Algebra 2.

I also started doing this math thing called Kumon which turns you into a god damn human calculator, they reteach math from the first grade level except its Japanese style so 10x more efficent and they know short cuts for everything.

But ANYWAY

Exam update

Geometry: I won
Spanish: I'm pretty sure I just made the pass mark with a 71-72 or something. 3 points lower and I fail :(
Upcoming tommorow: Honors English (HA I laugh at you!)

Did American Lit honors today, think I did alright, and U.S. History, which was probably better. Tomarrow I've got math ( =( ) and then Theology, Four five paragraph essays I have to enscribe in my bible tonight. eek.

Umm, I'm sorry to say this, but that's pretty sad. What's kewl about my school is that you don't lose points for turning the homework in with incorrect answers; you just have to do it if you got more than 20% of the problems wrong. So as long as you do your homework well, if not perfectly, then all that can adversely affect your grade is tests.

Kikinchikin
2004-06-10, 10:35 PM
woah so they actually calculate if your homework is less than 20% right?

At my school half the teachers don't check it, and the other half just grade on completeness.

Oh and last exam before summer tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Here's the deal:

Don't skip math homework.

Unlike English or history, where you can just skip the homework and read the book the day before the test, math is like a sport: it requires skill and practice, and, unfortunately, time. If you don't practice, no matter how hard you study, you will do poorly.

Unfortunately (as I found out), the inverse is not true, either. Doing your homework doesn't necessarily mean you will do well...

Yeah my friends the quiet type but smart and he did my homework in lunch right before class. He didnt even mind, what would have taken me hours took him 10 minutes.

Well, since I go to a private school, we only have 100 people, and out of those 100 people, only about 30 were in algebra last year. So there's really not that much to check. And BTW, the calculate if you got more than 20% wrong, not if you got less than 20% right.
