Ok, lets say someone buys planeside 4 months after release, where people will possibly have full certifications, so a newbie would not have as good armor weapons etc.. they would keep getting fragged so how will they manage to let newbs join? I guess they'd have to join an outfit to stay alive...
...my friend asked me this question, I thought it was pretty good
its not about how many certs you have, its how good you are with your weapons.
and you can always stay in the VR training till BR 5

But certs do give an advantage, so do implants, but they did deal with this well... still newbs (unlike me;) ) will have a disadvantage.

It's true, noobs probably won't be able to win a fight with a veteran. Veterans can use max suits, reinforced exosuits, and all that stuff noobs won't be able to get right away. But, that's all the more reason for them to join an outfit.

I was wondering the same thing myself... unless they have a different servers depending on what time you joing the game... and then later you could go to a more advanced server... I dunno... I dont think that's even possible.. I dont know much

Will 10 certs stop a level 2 sniper from killing your stealth engineer? No.

Whilst newbies probably won't be able to take on a vet 1-on-1, let's not forget that vet should have more brightly coloured armour than other players, making him a more visible target in the field.
So, if you have a whole group of newbies attacking a vet, well...

If I joined the game as a newbie I would go out and try to find other newbies to kill :sniper:

its not like vets have more health and armor. I think at level 20 though you should get a bonus like 10% to each and a chose of one out a few cool skills

Yea your HP or Armor will not increase, you will just have some better toys at your disposal.

The game will still be team oriented. You'd have to have a team to get anywhere, a team of noobs better bring some vaseline though..

I don't believe Vets will necessary have an advantage over noobs. As Nav pointed out, this is a team based game. Rarely, will you find a team of all noobs, and if it plays out similar to WWIIOL, noobs will have an opportunity to join up with assault or defending squads of veterans and make quite a difference. Depending on squad make-ups, the lesser weapons will play little role in the outcome of battles.

Vets will be in outfits too, its not like they're gonna walk in by themself, not knowing if his opponents are newbs or vets

I know for a fact that some clans are waiting to fill key slots 'till the game comes out. You definately want to find your sniper and lead hacker IN game. You definately need to see these guys in action, noobs will definately chances as the games get more organized and large.
It won't be that bad at all. The newbie can get a level 5 BR before actually going out to battle. Difference between 5 BR and 20 ? Nearly none, certs only allow you to do more stuff without changing the certs you have around, it doesn't allow you to have more equipment at once. You can't use your MAX cert, lancer cert and Reaver cert all at once, you have to pick one, so your level won't affect much other except implants.

plus even if n00bs can only get a few weapons and use only 2 armor classes, their will still be soldiers from both sides in a lighter armor, so just go find some lights and attack em. I mean if your a light you dont run up to a MAX and pick a fight lol.

i think noobs will have a similar problems as they do in CS, as long as they have a rifles cert by the time they get out of the training, they have the oppertunity to kill someone before they kill you. Also, if u join up and stay in groups, you'll get enough certs soon enough anyway. I believe that a noob, if he has reasonable combat expierence with any other game similar to PS MIGHT have a slight advantage cus the veterans will be in brighter armor. but hell, i dunno, :D

While a veteran should be able to beat a n00b one on one, how many one on one battles are there gonna be? Also, unless im mistaken, it doesnt take any certs to man wall turrets and gun positions on vechs. Also, with the new reasource system, it should be fairly easy to get the BEP you need to go toe to toe with others.

I don't see how a n00b will be at any disadvantage from a vet except in experience. Having a higher level doesn't give you any advantages, it just allows you to do more. If a n00b has medium armor and a gun and they attack a vet wearing medium armor and a gun, there's no reason for the n00b not to win except that the vet is used to the game. The vet doesn't get any aiming, damage, or armor bonuses. It should be a fairly level playing field.
The only advantage a vet will have is that he can kill you, sneak into and hack your base, and then steal a vehicle to escape in, while a n00b might not have enough certs to do everything they want.
The difference between the newb and the vet will be their battlefield awareness.
What weapon should I use right now?
Which way should I look?
How should I move?
Where are my friends?
etc.

vets only have brighter armor with CEP. 20 BR looks the same in Agile or reinforced as 5 BR

Nope, CEPs give you polygonal additions like shoulderpads or something, but BEPs give you brighter colors.

have you ever happened to actually look at some beta screenshots? if you will notice, they all have the darkest colors their empire offers. They were all at BR 20. Now, if you look at what you said in context, he said the CEP is the only thing that changes your uniform. BEP changes what you can have, whilst CEP give special uniform additions SUCH AS epaulettes, brighter colors, etc.

Blah blah blah, yes we know, the only disadvantage will be their armor/skillz b/c standard armor is a waste of file space. Not that I have any shortage with my 80 gig hard drive;)

moloch, you're just wrong.
CEP gives you additional epaulette graphics to your armor
BEP changes your armor from primary color to secondary color.
afex....perhaps you could add that to the certification section of the Game Info section of the PSU site since it IS OFFICIAL INFORMATION :)
1. it wouldn't go in certs, it would go in ranks
2. i dont do content. why do you think we have a new editor position? :D
And yeah BEPs = color change (higher = more secondary color (red, teal, yellow)) and CEPs = more polygons on armor.

Note to self: Pick fights with the guys with almost no secondary color.
Well a beefed up armor is dangerous as well, if he has a cool armor you know he's planned some sort of hidden dragon crouching squad attack on you. :p
