No, I've mis-spelled it for a reason:
We see the requests for naval combat more than virtually anything else for really expanding gameplay and content. That said, we want to do it someday too, and the idea of Battle Islands gives us the perfect platform to do it on.
However, the first release of battle islands will be separate zones. We have some ideas that will eventually cluster the islands into groups that will have objectives tied together, and that may be a good time to begin thinking of 'teh navy' :D

I wonder what he could be hinting at exactly? :)

There really isn't anything to be read in it. Spork only misspelled that cause the original guy mispelled it.
where we can have teh navy?
He was just making a little fun. They want to do a navy but it's not on their plate anytime soon, unfortunately.

Yeah, and now with all of these deliverer variants able to go in the water too, what can they really add that will make navy battles any different from what we already have?
Light scout water boat = switchblade
troop transport = deli
battleships = mag, thund, raider

Ships, for one thing, since we don't have anything remotely resembling a navy. It doesn't take much to imagine all the vehicles, structures, weaponry, or certs that could be added.
Thunder and Raider? They don't even come close. They're just amphibious APCs, and nothing at all like a battleship or even a destroyer.

I think the common opinion is that naval battles could include larger, "Capitol" ships besides just cutter and speedboat sized.
That offers a lot of room for growth. You could have normal vehicle-like smaller ships, oil-rig typed bases that would add new effects to your base lattices, and later, even have outfit owned capitol ships.
How cool would it be to log on to the game onboard your outfit's aircraft carrier, and stroll around? Outfit mates are reequipping and repairing reavers, then head back in to support ground troops making a normandy style landing on Desolation's beaches. You head up to the command center, where some of your outfit mates are working terminals to defend the ship, coordinate radar and airstrikes, and filter information for the commanders... speaking of whom, are in the war room, deep inside the carrier, plotting strategy on a massive holographic map. Now think how cool this would be with deployable emplacements, a functional command structure, improved communications systems, and new grunt gear.

Obviously I have never questioned Sporkfire's spelling ability, I was just copying, what he copied from someone else.... if you get my drift. I just wanted to point it out because it's the first hint that I've seen that the dev team has plans to incorporate a navy. Then again I could be a complete tard and Sporkfire was joking that he should go back to complaining that there isn't a navy and they have no plans :tear:
And technically, magriders and deliverers are amphibious, not naval :)

heheh. He and Smoke have mentioned several times over the past year that a Navy is the single biggest request made by players. Then they always follow that statement with "we'd like to do it eventually, we have documents for lots of things, but not right now." Very frustrating to hear them tease us like that every so often.

As long as this isn't a one off :D
I knew it's definately something that's been asked again and again, but I'd never heard any dev response to the idea.
/me happily rules out the prospect of himself being a complete tard :)

Hm, a Sturmgrenadier carrier. It would need a Galaxy landing pad and some tubes, though. :D

Er, is it just me, or are AirCraft carriers in this game just a bit different? I mean, every "plane" in this game is vertical take off... so it would just be a floating heli-pad where you can get vehicles from.

I still think airships done right are better than sea-based navies done wrong...

What makes you think it will go wrong? It coul open up possibilites for new things like beach attacks and stuff!

But above all else I want something outfit based. Whether it be an outfit sea ship, outfit air ship, outfit base ownership, outfit barracks (hayoos idea), or something like that. Those would just be awesome :)

You wish.
At the most, real big ships will be bases. Although when the devs said outfit ownership bases a big ship would be pretty good for that. Tanks will be like gunboats, and jetskiis for patrol, and if nssisary a vehicle that oculd transport vehilces over sea.
Though notice one thing, what if you had to bail? If you gonna swim, they going to have to make a new armor. How do you board, need to dock. This stuff might not work out.

I think it's a good first step to where I want to eventually see the game go: underwater.
It could be done quite simply, I think. Granted I know next to nothing about programming and have no clue what I'm talking about, but here's my thought.
You could have underwater bases that could be reached by infantry using special scuba-like gear, and also by the HART itself, you'd just drop into the ocean. If the devs decided to make naval ships a go then submarines would be a logical next step, so that's another option. Of course conventional weapons couldn't be used underwater, so a couple new ones would be added to the already existing certs. In terms of certifications I think the following will work:
As a given all characters would be able to use a specialized underwater suit that allowed them to breathe while underwater and also travel at normal speeds while doing so. They would also recieve, as part of the standard assault package, a mini air-powered harpoon gun, which shot-for-shot would do damage equivalent to a Jackhammer, the exception being a much slower re-load time, a 1 shot clip, and no triple-shot feature.
Medium assault would now carry an empire-specific air-powered assault firearm, some examples of which would be a larger, much more powerful harpoon gun for the NC whose primary fire would be similar to the standard assault version, only with more damage and faster reload, and a secondary mode where the harpoon would be coated with a specialized poison that would cause aggrivated damage much like a plasma grenade. The TR would have a smaller gun that could fire mini-bolts very quickly, with less damage per shot than the MCG but a tighter CoF and a slightly lower RoF. Think Van Helsing. The Vanu would have a specially adapted energy gun that was similar to the Puslar only the particles would explode in a small radius (2 meters) damaging the target and any others close by. The secondary mode would allow the soldier to place temporary "depth charges" that would sit in place and detonate when an enemy came withing 5 meters of it. The damage would be about 1/4 of the current HE mines.
Certing in Rexo would get you, basically, a re-enforced scuba outfit. Same deal as rexo only underwater.
I haven't thought about HA yet...but what do you think?

Well to go underwater it would take WAY too much work and well i dont think devs like work :)

Yes there are still a few issues that make water based ships further out of reach than my airships :P
