So, i just got into PS from the fileplanet offer and I have some questions im hoping people can answer.

I've decided I want to go Vanu because I met some real nice players on Emerald and I noticed there were a fucking TON of newbs on the Terran side.

My questions are:

1. How does the sniper gun work? How many shots does it take to kill? Refire rate? Ammo?

2. Is the lancer a good gun to get? I keep getting killed by reavers and lightnings. Also MAXs. Would the lancer solve my problem?

3. How is the lasher at close, medium, and long range? Is it a TK machine?

Ill add more in a bit. Going into the game now.

Oh yeah, and what vehicle cert should I get if i just want something to get me around? The one that gives me the fury and basilisk? Or the one that gives me the medium assault vehicles?

1. How does the sniper gun work? How many shots does it take to kill? Refire rate? Ammo? Two to kill infantrymen, one for cloakers, reload after every shot, but thats not too painful, 10 rounds to a box, you shouldn't need more then 2-3 boxes until you get medical/engy. I think it's a bit too specialized to be worth the certs, but it is fun.

2. Is the lancer a good gun to get? I keep getting killed by reavers and lightnings. Also MAXs. Would the lancer solve my problem? Decent enough, won't help with reavers but it should help with Lightnings. The deci that comes with it is the MAX killer.

3. How is the lasher at close, medium, and long range? Is it a TK machine? Good for close range CQB, but it loses it's effectiveness very quickly. Great for defensive actions such as backdoor defense where the defenders can spread out but the attackers are packed together.

Oh yeah, and what vehicle cert should I get if i just want something to get me around? The one that gives me the fury and basilisk? Or the one that gives me the medium assault vehicles?I would recommend light scout or an aircraft.

Thanks. I dont think i'll be getting the sniper.

I got the lancer. That thing fucking rocks. With my PC the way it is, i have seamless action. I just took it out once and i took down 3 reavers and 2 mosquitoes before a reaver snuck up on me and got me. Ive yet to see how it works on MAX's. It took down an AMS pretty nicely.

I decided to get the all terrain cert so i could use the fury. It's fun for getting me where i need to go.

Also what does everyone reccomend as my first implant?

Darklight for a grunt or advanced targeting for a vehicle char imho, but Personal shield and Audio Amp can also be good choices.

Edit: Darklight is probably the best for a new player but you can get along without it later on, Advanced targeting is just criminally useful when it comes to choosing tactics and Pshield is all around useful for a grunt, but you have to get into the habit of turning it on early. AA is generally useful for situation awareness, although i haven't used it much.

Advanced targeting is just criminally useful when it comes to choosing tactics

Why? According to the help in PS it just shows you the names of people.

Im thinking of getting Audio Amp, i like hiding in the woods and this would help me see if someone's getting close.

Range magnifier might help me with killing stuff w the Lancer though.

It lets you see enemy health as well, it's priceless gunning for a tank.

Aye, I would say either Adv targeting or personal shield.

Pshield is practically becoming a requirement for infantry, especially if you do not have rexo.

Lasher is a great gun, its like a Special assault gun, a short-range AV, and a fast-killing HA all in one.

It kills maxs in about 2 clips, infantry in a few shots, can scare away tanks after jammering, can lock down a backdoor, and deal with groups. All in one gun.

You may want to look into getting aircav for low br transport, a bit of a steep learning curve, but you can rake in the bep with it fairly easilly once you get used to rocketspamming grunts/vehicles. (Also skeedo is a demon for slaughtering infantry in the open.)

Lancer is more effective against planes than inc made it out to be. They buffed the shot travel time and it is not particularly hard to hit a moving/hovering reaver/liberator that is low to the ground trying to whore infantry kills.

On my alts, regardless of empire, I usually go Pshield at 6 and adv targeting at 12. Darklight/audio I wait for 18. (Its not quite as important imo)

Thanks for the tips.

I decided to go adv targeting. I also picked up the all terrain for the basilisk and fury. I like wearing RExo armor and it's cool using the basilisk/fury to move into a good sniper point to take down tanks/maxs/planes.

Just because I'm a bastard, I'll correct them all because it's Enhanced Targeting, not Advanced, lol. Anyways, yeah that or DL are always my first implants.

I'd reccomend Harasser over ATV for your character. It gets your around radar invisable and gives you the capacity to bring someone else along with you.

I got Enanced targeting because i fly and it helps alot, to know waht to pick on, Use pshield becasue you can take 3 sniper bolts with that, a medikit and Rexo. Very helpfull in sniper duels. It also give me jsut enought lasting power to take on Agile HS users with my guass (me in rexo)

Yea, psheild is good against snipers. Especially if you are one. I have enhanced targeting on everyone, psheild on like half, and switch around playing with the other ones in between.

And your new to the game?!? Youve been on this damn forum longer than i have!

Meh, PShield has rarely suited me, then again I am a Sniper/Infl. Enhanced Targeting and DLV, as well as Adv regen are my implants. I can deal with my targets well with this.

If you are a sniper or a Gunner Enhanced Targeting is almost mandetory. DLV is useful, but as you go on you can learn to find enemy cloakers w/o it (I only use it on tower sweeps).

Oh, and I resent your comment on the State of the Terran Republic. There are more n00bs in the NC. TR was just cursed with an uncanny amount of dumbass cr5's.
