Tryin to keep a brotha down? Look at that. My paychecks are getting raped. :(
I'm posting this just to get an idea on what kind of money you guys make monthly (I work 80 hours a month, i make $460). And to discuss what kind of deductions are made to your paycheck.

I get similar deductions. Since I have a good deal of assets, I lose some exemptions as well.

My paycheque was 323.12 mullas for 2 weeks. :D
I get 8.50 an hour at Krispy Kreme. While getting to flirt with all the hot girls at retail.
Deductions? Im sure its different in Canada. My money goes straight into my bank account and I don't bother retreiving my pay stubs. *shrugs*
Actually I do get deductions. Its my parents forcing me to take out 100 dollars out of every pay towards my joint account for police academy.

I pay more in taxxes then most of yu will make.
Last year, after deductions I paid 11,000 ( that's income tax alone kiddies, not counting Social Securtiy and Medicare so old people can feel good about themselves.)
Every Month I get about $1,300 with held. Or about %25 of my check. Once again so Old people can feel good about themselves.
The moral... do not got to College, do not aspire to make more then 70k a year, if you do not enjoy being rammed by Your twisted Uncle every month!

What's stupid? The more you make the more they take. It's just if you feel you're getting screwed over for the Government taking 45-60 bucks outa your check, wait untill it's real money.
And just to break it down.
I make 35 per hour.
On average I work 40 hours a week (although it's a bit slow having just come back from my honeymoon and all)
That's $1400 a week in a four week month that's $4800
Taxes and all cost about %30
If my math is right that's 1440 Per month in Taxes.
So out of every month I work 1 week is to pay my taxes!
I'll have to get my next pay stub and post it alla Sqeeky to show you. It's amazing.
(And do go to college, and do aspire to make 70k or more. While the taxes suck, the dispossable income is great!)

You haven't seen rape until you get into another tax bracket. I've got a friend who works in the oil business that gets bent over the counter and given it to by the government because he makes about $26/hr. Not sure exactly what his taxes are per pay period, but it's pretty ugly. I make just under 20k/year with my job while I go to college, and have approximately the same withholdings you do percentage-wise.

SoCal has a high cost of living, therefore they must pay more. I've heard starting pay for burger flippers in Seattle is upwards of 10/hr, which is more than I make here in Florida, with a low cost of living, as an electronics repair technician for a large company.

Mine depends. Here is the low down....
My old job, I worked as a Security Guard at a Pub. I made roughly $380 a week from $16hr (It's actually $480 for 30hrs but I think the boss ripped me off.. Didn't stay long.)
My new job, same as a Security Guard, but working as a Bodyguard - VIP Protection (Yep doing it again.), . By doing 48hrs a week (Work, Consulting, Training. All paid), I earn $864 a week($18hr) or more, depending the hours. But! Due to GST Tax, I'll be deducted from $100 - $150.
I swear it's kind of insulting to lose good sum of money to the tax. BTW - this wage is earnt in Australia.

Wow, sounds like Seattle's a good place to work if they pay that well. Which is good, because I'm headed there after college. It's a good-sized city, not absurdly big like LA or NYC, but not tiny, either. And the climate's nice.

I get none with held. I'm not sure how, but the improv company I work for is part of some organization that exempts them and me (employees) from having any of our income with held. Not sure how that works again, but it's true.

Well, I'm not complaining in the least about taxes, especially because I know it's not going to get any better the older I get. My dad gets pretty generous exemptions and tax breaks on his pay check (being a government employee helps to a degree), but he still had something like $35,000 to $40,000 worth of deductions last year.
