so i was upgrading my computor with a leet haxxor mad skillzed 40 giger, to boost my mad information holding skillz to 120 gbs, however i fucked up and my 80 gigabite hard drive that held anything and everything i had collected over the past few years landed after a four feet drop off the table onto the hard tile because for once i actualy decided to work on my comp in a static free, or rather, less static full room. so now im stuck with this 40 gigabite HD. now because of that, i need your help finding a prog i so miss now, the google toolbar that went on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, i did do a google search for it, however cannot find it, your condolences on my loss are appreciated however unrequired.

thats all ill really need help finding, just those two programs.

oh, and if you have any of my sigs on your HD, which i seriously dought, send me then would ya?

That truly sucks man. =/

Maybe if you put your HD under your pillow the Harddrive fairy will restore it. Worked for me with my pr0n problem. :D

Not likely to work in this case, but I've seen stranger things happen.

Place the hard drive in your freezer for a while. Overnight works best. Next day, remove the drive, and hook it up and see if it will access the drive.

It usually works marvelously with drives that are failing and intermittantly functioning through normal usage. It's certainly worth a shot even if you did drop the drive, and it can't do anymore damage than you've already done.

This isn't some BS, right?

I should get a crappy 20G drive and test this out. :D

mabey ya dont get it, mabey i dont, however, when i turn the comp on with that HD in it, i hear a sound close to a buzzing, and a click click click. that = beyond repair, unless i send it into some shop.

No BS. I'm an electronics tech for a very large company, I've done it many a times to save data for people.

Give it a try Everay, it can't fuck it up anymore than it already is. It's a longshot, but would you rather know you tried everything you could, or just give up now?

what if it gets wet in the freezer and when i plug it back in it shorts everything?

It will not get wet in the freezer, I wouldn't reccomend placing it in there without something placed under it of course, but never in my experience has the unit ever become wet, nor shorted a system out. The drives are hermetically sealed also, so there's no way the inside of the drive could have any moisture in it.

If you freeze a drive, put it in a ziplock bag and make sure theres 0-minimal air in there. Don't do it overnight, just 3-4 hours will do. Try to use 2 bags if possible, because even a small hole may cause trouble.

It actually works pretty well, I had a drive that was failing and in the middle of a backup it pooped out on me. I froze it for 3.30hrs and then plugged it in. It only gave me about an hour of run time on the drive, but I got everything backed up :D

After you thaw it, put some BBQ sauce on it, and grill it for about 5minutes on each side. Serve with corn on the cob, and baked beans. Garnish with a little parsley, and have it with a nice dry wine. Something not too fruity, like a Merlot. Bon Apetit!

i dont have any ziplock bags, so the next best thing is wax paper...ill just do it over night, i dont expect anything, and if it does work, all i want is my music, my pictures, and saved games.

Only 30v of electricity is required to damage electronic components inside your computer[/that fucking A+ book I'm reading]

Martyr's friend had a hard drive shit the bed - we had her bring it over in a cooler full of ice, like an organ.

Never got the thing to work in the end, but shit happens.
