FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-

IC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.

Now count the F's in that sentence.
Count them ONLY ONCE!
Then see below...

ANSWER:

There are six F's in the sentence.

A person of average intelligence finds three of them.

If you spotted four, you're above average.
If you got five, you can turn your nose at most anybody.
If you caught six, you are a genius.

Here is the same text, but we highlighted the F's for your review!

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-

How many f's did you find? I only got 3 my first time through.

Why the fuck is that so hard?

Because most people don't bother actually looking at the small words like 'of' and 'and.' Instead, they just acknowledge that it's there and continue on.

Mah SPOON is too BIG.
Mah SPOON is too BIG.
Mah SPOON is too BIG.
Mah SPOON is too BIG.

I only counted 3.

1 in each "of", those other big words confused me.

Doh, typo. Meant to say 6

ChewyLSB

It's difficult, because, like stated earlier in this topic, smaller words like "of" are ignored by the human brain and are just recognized as being there.

I still managed to get 6, though. :P

Yeah, I figure it probably has more to do with how careful you are as opposed to how smart you are. If I was paying more attention I am sure I could of gotten all 6. I diddn't take it seriously when I first counted it.

That's what all the average people tell themselves.

CTRL-F (in Netscape/Mozilla) brought down the "Find" box. I'm smarter than you all, I had the mental capacity to get the computer to check for me. It found 6.

Ha.

Why the fuck is that so hard? :confused:It's probably pattern recognition (Not the technical term, I'm sure). Your brain, being trained to recognize the engish language, dosen't acknoledge "of" an individual word, and hense, dosen't break it down the way it would a longer or more complex word.

I got three as well.

doubt it, i think it has something to do with the fact that the f's in of sound ike a v.

that is incorrect...bang.

That is correct... the brain takes certain words... for granted, I suppose you could say (most noteable are 'of', and 'is'). The brain realises that they are there but for some reason won't break down the word.

In that test the average human brain will only locate 3 of the 'f's , it will discount the 3 'of's...
