Not really; leastaways, they're much better than any other comic-based movie (some may say that's pretty meaningless, but still...). Mr. Maguire has won several awards for his acting in the original. Mr. Dafoe was fantastic as Osborn, and as good as someone can be when he was in his lame-ass green suit. Ms. Harrison is also an accomplished actress, and Ms. Dunst is OK. The special effects are good, in a comic-like way, and the plot is well-written. Overall, they're not Oscar winners; they're just all-around solid movies several notches above normal summer faire.

Spiderman stole my old roommate's car.

Seriously.

Last year, I lived in downtown Manhattan (two blocks from the World Trade Center hole), and Martyr and his then roommate Lithion came up to visit me from Florida. Lithion parked his Benz on the street along with every other car, and we left it there and took the subway around the city. We get home that night, go to bed, no problems.

The next morning, I walk over to the window to open the shades, look down and notice that every single car that was on the street the night before is now gone, and in it's place is a long white trailer. I freak out. They were supposed to leave that day and go back to Florida.

I went down to the security desk and asked them about the situation outside, and they told us that Spiderman 2 was filming and they needed my street to park their trailers. Fine, that's cool, but where the hell was Lithion's car?

"Somewhere downtown, I dunno." said the ever-so-helpful security guard.

So the three of us trudged around downtown Manhattan looking for the Benz, and finally found it by the post office on Water Street.

Later that night, after Martyr and Lithion had left, my roommate Kari and I went outside and waited for Toby McGuire. He's a shortie!

Spiderman gets killed by Doctor Octopus after Jane(I think that's her name) betrays him to marry octopus. Then there's hardcore octopus tentacle fucking with Jane and the movie ends

Great movie. The hospital scene was great just because Raimi ripped himself off and made it look just like the Evil Dead movies. Bruce Campbell once again has a kick ass cameo. Stan Lee once again gets to save a child. Doc Ock was handled way better than the Goblin was. Very satisfying, lots of focus on the characters but still enough action to keep you interested.

They'd better not go two villains (although they certainly have laid the ground work for which two it would be) in the next one. Increasing the villain count is one of the many things that destroyed the Batman franchise.
