View Full Version : Argh! The damn posers!

Ok.. im getting sick of the ass-hats and posers on CnC Generals. For some unknown reason, EA decided to make it so your stats are recorded.

So now, whenever I get into a game on quickmatch, the person i'm matching can see my score (400 some wins to 50 some losses). 25% of the time, the person is cool and just wants a good game.

But the other 75% of the time it's some *insert worst possible profanity series here* poser who wants to get himself a awesome looking score. How? Not by skill. Not by winning legit. But by quitting games with good players and only playing newbs.

Theres nothing I can do about this.. i just want to bitch, and bring to light the fact that a great many gamers are SERIOUSLY pathetic.

I think I speak for all rational gamers when i say: NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR F***CKING SCORES! PLAY THE GAME TO HAVE FUN! IF THAT MEANS HAVING ME RAPE YOU IN THE ASS - THEN BY GOD SO BE IT. TAKE IT WITH A GRIN!

*pant pant*

Ok, im done.

/rant off

I've managed to avoid the situations by creating over a dozen accounts. Titles "imaNewbie##" with ## being a number starting at 12. Once i get up to 10 wins to 0 losses and ppl start quitting, i switch to a new account.

Still, it's a pain in the ass.

just lose on purpose then. i mean no point in making new accounts.

Practice with a noob gun maybe?

ummm lol?

But yea i see that problem in lots of games. Mostly the RTSes that have the same kind of W/L score or something. Like Starcraft.

Problem is, it takes time. Stats aren't recorded until 2 minutes have passed in-game.

I'd have to lose about 300 times in a row just to get the posers to think they have a chance and play w me. That's 600 minutes. Plus load times, another 300 minutes.

Screw that.

generals is a RTS there hoss... not FPS...

its almost impossible to find a decent game there. all anyone ever plays is that one lame ass map. god forbid you actually find decent people to play with. thats why I limit my generals time to just playing with my buds...

posers are in every online game. it just shows more in games that require more strategy.

True, but it shows more in games that keep track of your stats with an account, like in most strategy games (SC, WC3). That's one of the reasons they blow, sadly. They aren't exactly posers, they just care too much about stats, which is real stupid.

CnC Generals, been meaning to get it from a friend. Awesome game.

I would never have fun in games if I always won.

C&C Generals online acts like a nazi to me. it always screws up when I try to connect, and when I do connect either A) the chat rooms are different from my friends or B) the chat rooms are different, won't let him join my game, won't let me join his game, and won't even let me see he's online. I have not played Generals online much so I wouldn't know.

although I do play other RTS. like Starcraft and the other C&C series. I hate people who do that. thats probabley why I started playing Planetside :D

Is there now some kind of penalty for leaving a game before it ends?

mabey they just want to play with people of a equal skill level, i do, but i always play against those better than me, i expect to lose, but i do my best to win.

but really, what i find the best way to win in that game, is to play with buddies, against other people, and, to use a voice chat.

Hmm. A lot of people acuse other people of being qoute "Stat whores" unqoute. I know this because everytime i get on BFV and have and exceptionally good game on it and it follows through for awhile (I finish in the top 3 almost no matter what, just sometimes i get first by 50 kills) and i do my job, cap, kill, fly, drive, hide, support. And if im supporting my team with a chopper some asshole will always have to blow me outta the sky and tk me cause he thinks im a "Stat whore". I dont play CnC but maybe you cant always tell if they are a total n00b or what.

Do this:

Play a match

if you lose, you lose

if you win, quit/forfeit right before the end of the round, so the person you're playing knows they lost, but your record suffers

thus people will have no idea what they're up against.

I agree with you, but on the other hand, if your playing a noob, they aren't gonna have too much fun if they have just finished building their air strip and stuff - being the slow noobs that they are - only to get toally pwned by six Aurora's taking out half their base. Maybe they just want to play with someone of similar standards so that they can have a bit more of a fair fight. I know i enjoy close matches far more than ones that i own or ones that i get owned. I know not everyone is like that, and i know that there are a laod of people who only play noobs to get their stats up, but not everyone who DC's is like that.

Maybe you should try joining a tournament or ladder of some kind?

Make a server, but put in the name "Vets only - No noobs please" or something like that. And I'm pretty sure Tek has me on ignore, so someone quote me or something. Or if possible play only unranked games, not sure if C&C lets you do that though.

Kalta, the problem with the posers is that newb smashing is ALL THEY DO. If they see that you have even a REMOTE chance of winning, they will quit. These people have awesome scores (almost as good as mine ;)) and they want people to think that they are the "best of the best" in the CnC community, yet ALL they have EVER played are newbs.

It makes it so the rest of us, who actually have skill, who have been playing RTS for nigh on a decade, become lumped into the "stat hugger" groups along with the REAL posers.

The problem manifests itself most strongly in the "quickmatch" option, where you hit the button and CnC gets you a quick opponent. Unfortunately, I have to spend 10 minutes doing this (if im using my TekDragon account) because every time i load a game, the fuker quits, getting no penalty (because the 2 minutes isn't up).

EA and all the other developers need to make it so that the ONLY place to view someone's stats is on official website. That way, they won't bother wasting the time looking up stats, cause even if the opponent is a newb you were just AFK for a good 30 seconds, and that's all most people need to get a healthy advantage.

I like the SC: Pandora Tomorrow ranking system, where if you play against people with lower levels than you in ranked game, you get no points, and can lose points, so it encourages playing people with the same skill level, and if you leave a game, you lose points.

CnC Generals is an extremely fun and balanced game. The way they made anti units (anti tank, anti infantry, anti air) makes it better than ANY RTS game out there. In ALL other RTS games i played it's possible to win by simply making ONE unit type and zerging it.

In CnC Generals, you can spend 50k on tanks and zerg me. I'll spend 5k on rocket soldiers and own ALL your fucking tanks.

It makes it so the ONLY way to be effective is to use combined arms. Tanks, infantry on the sides, artillery behind, with air support as needed.

My only bitch is the stat rating system and the posers who abuse it.

They had a good run. EA took over, took their great storyline and ideas - and turned them into a balanced fun system.

The 3 sides to Generals (and the 12 sides in Zero Hour) are more balanced to each other than the TWO sides to ANY westood CnC game ever were.

Ah yes I remember C&C Generals, had a lot of fun with it, but the disc was compromised, gone now, never bothered to get another one. Starcraft is enough for me, gotta love the Classics.

I suggest re-purchasing it. I tried going back to StarCraft and WarCraft 3. The systems are way too simplistic. Just mass-mass-mass and attack. No combined arms, no strategy.

Personally im glad EA took over. Now all RTS games will have to not only create cool units, but they will have to balance them in the same way EA did - or the game will feel like checkers compared to chess.

Oh, and Exo? I play quickmatch because it takes like 5 seconds to find someone. Even with the load times and the quitters I can get a game in anywhere from 30 seconds (first player i find wants to play) to 10 minutes (5 or so players quit before i find a match).

Either way that's better than using the lobby's to make games.

1. The map is already chosen, no suprise.
2. You already know your opponent's side, no suprise.
3. It takes FOREVER to get a pro game started. Stat huggers are taking over the lobby too.
