All that looks like is there showing a film out of a projector on that pancho he's wearing.

Sweet. Although the Japanese have some pretty different tastes when it comes to entertainment, they sure come up with some creative crap :)

The Americans invent the stuff the Japanese make it 10x better or more. This stuff has already been used on in combat by Americans but it wasn't as nearly as good.

I'm with them. I could be done, I don't see why not, but I don't think this is one of them.

I'm w/ NightHawk, Ranger and Toimu, it looks like they're pointing a projector on the guys jacket. Also, where is the rest of the car thats shown under his left armpit?

This photo was taken through a viewfinder that provides with a combined image of moving images taken behind Obana and him wearing a luminous jacket that makes a transparent effect.
This is not, repeat NOT, Optical Camoflage as it would relate to the military or addled game freaks. This is basically similar to the whole "Blue Screen" film trick but done in real time.
The reason you can't see the guy on the bike is he was too close to the guy, and was not in the range of the camera that was taking the rear picture.
Basically the only military application is stated in the article.
and pilots who wish cockpit floors were transparent for landings. And dogfighting, and CAS, and missile avoidance... etc etc etc...
Edit: and by the way, you can see one leg of the tripod that had the camera on it, on the left, (his right) of the guy in the poncho.
