Try to convince them to go to the fireworks. It's only once a year. You can go see the movie and play DnD some other time.

get a rag with some ether on it and knock them all out. then, bury them alive in the desert.

or convince them to see the fireworks. that'd probably be better.. :D :D

What if you play DnD earlier, see a movie in the evening, and be back in time for fireworks?

Fireworks. Bring your friends if you must. If they don't want to, slap them like little children and yell "IT'S THE FORTH OF JULY AND YOU WANT TO PLAY DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS?!? IDIOTS!".

If you're only interested in the fireworks, might as well not see them at all and play DnD.

I became somewhat disillusioned with the fireworks after my dad could blow shit up 90x better than the city.

Dad: Wanna see something really fuckin' cool?
Me: Sure!
Dad: *launches mortar down the street, watches it blow up in an intersection, setting fire to the grass on the four corner of the inersection.
Drunken guy upstairs: Yeah!

Triggar - A typical DnD meet will last us 8 or 9 hours. Fireworks start at 10, I think, and theres still the issue of Frisbee beforehand.

Depends on how good your firework shows usually are. If your city's idea of fireworks is lighting paper airplanes on fire, then I'd skip.

Make bottle rockets instead.

Edit: Okay, sounds like your city has crappy shows.

MORTARS?! wtf.

AztecWarrior

Yeah...people are throwing around the word "mortar" like it was a firework or something. Can someone please clarify, as I am not a pyromaniac?

(The only mortars I know of are what goes between bricks and tubes that launch 81mm projectiles.)

It IS a firework. You know, when you go to the 4th of July fireworks show? The big booms? The shiny things in the air? Those are mortars. My dad knows the guy who supplies the city.
