WTF have soe done now, i cant even get above 5 fps when looking at an enemy now even with all graphics settings on low, is it just me or is everyone getting worse fps.
I have a GeForce FX5700 Ultra 128mb Graphics card, 2.8ghz Intel Pentium 4 and 512MB 400mhz ddr ram.

Unless there's been one in the last few days (post 2.8) then nope, no difference for me!
I blame the RAM - I used to have 512 DDR and was sure that that should be enough, and then I got 512 more... oh the difference that made. :D

Yeah, I have almost the exact same system as you except I have 1Gb of memory and I dont have a problem. I dont get below 20fps at bases with a red alert with most of my gfx settings on high.

yeah, its always the RAM, whats even worse is that they say on the official website that you only need 256 mb of it, on the front of the PS box there should be a huge label saying 'warning, uses alot of RAM' like some cigerette box...

Yeah no kidding. 512 barely passes. It's really the minimum required. You need a gig to even make it worth your time.

Er....it will lag, yes. It won't be OMFG I HATE THIS FUCKING GAME laggy, but it's guaranteed to piss you off sometimes, especially when a squad or more of enemies is around.

Is 2.8.7 live now?

Well I manage to get through the game fairly well with 768mb of ram.

Yeah, the patch is live. But I'm curious about something. At the server select screen, it gives you info about the new patch. In it, it says that the only medal available now is the Meritorious Achievement medal awarded to characters (not accounts) that are a year old. I know that my character is well over a year old, but I don't see where the medal is supposed to be. Anybody know what's up with that?

Where can I find the patch message & or information about what's in this patch?
Thanks!

Heh, I used to run graphics at recommeended with FPS ranging from 20-100 at times. After this patch, a gruesome .2 FPS is my avg. I thought this patch was supposed to optimize performance, not make it unplayable.

Yup. A lot of people, even people with P4 3ghz and 1.5 gigs of ram get about 3 fps when they go to Forseral or whatever.

Happened to me on Oshur but it still was lower then usual on Forseral and Sanctuary.

Yea, I've been hearing from a lot of people about lag and/or bad framerates. I don't know, SOE will have it fixed by the end of this week (hopefully).
I myself have not had any troubles whatsoever.
Except of course with the new chat window thing. They should have left the LFS buttun on the right, cause now I keep pressing the LFS buttun instead of the Options.
New achievement award for 1-year people. Meh!
The new grid thing is a nice addition.

IMO, the grid is nearly useless as it is currently implemented. Needs to be much smaller, each square a little less then the SOI of a tower.

Agreed. Made that point LONG ago.

You probably haven't been playing PS very long, it has been slowly getting worse with each patch. I remember when I would never lag with 512, then I got another 512, worked fine, now I'm starting to get back into the laggy stage.

i guess the problem stems because the more stuff you add, the more problems occur?
Yes i just fired up PS today, and i was happy to see a new patch.
But once again, it was almost unplayable, i had such a awful fps rate, and it didn't help with my funny jumping cable connection.
:(
Oh well i guess it's time to get a new pc, one with the new amd chip socket..erm...940 something.
anyway, im assured it will make PS much more beter, so i'll quit playing ps for now, but not my subscription. ;)
New patch or new pc, whatever comes first.
(my bet is on the pc :p )

If you have problems with performance since the new patch, this thread might help you out a little.

I personally had an increase in performance. The continents are loading a hell of a lot faster, and I experience damn near close to zero lag. And the grids aren't totally useless. We had some VS CR5s on Emerald last night playing Battleship. :)

Oh by the way Lonehunter187 iv been playing for quite a while but left for a while to play other games and when i said getting worse i ment a definate massive drop in fps after the patch, anyway i now have a gig of ram and it seems to have done the trick. On the loading times i think that sometimes its missing some bits out when it loads the cont, eg. the floor ( i went to hossin via hart and fell straight through the floor to my untimly death )

Thanks for the info, folks. We have replicated a machine that reproduces these issues, so we have narrowed down the issue. Our Programmers are currently working on the issue and communicating with hardware vendors who may have some input toward the resolution. We shouldn't have to deal with this much longer.

Yup. As I see it there are many people who are having similar problems. My system has enough horsepower to run with all the settings at 'High' for the most part. Some times in really huge battles I may tweak them down a little. But for the most part I maintained a good frame rate. After the patch, with all settings to ghetto, framerate is single digits.
I see there has been some official responses (of some sort) regarding the issue from the fine folks at PS. As of yet I am unable to read them because the official PS sites are blocked from my work computer. Listed as games or chat. Sigh..
Fortunately PSU is not. :) So if anyone would cut and paste to this or a new thread here I would be forever in debt.
Thanks.

I was extremely amused at how pissed people were getting because the two Emerald VS CR5's were playing Battleship. It's not like there's a set limit to global's that can be made a day, and they were "wasting" them, and you could just turn off receive Command...

How do you play battleship with the grids?
